I own a 1993 Q45 with 15 inch wheels. 90K

I have a chance to buy 4 what look like 91/92 Q45 wheels with Bridgestone tires fitted. Size 215-65-15.

Tires look like they don't have may miles on em - I would guess 10-12,000 at most.

Is Bridgestone a good Q tire? What model/rating should I look for?

At $200 for the 4 should I consider this a good deal? I could use the rims for winter tires alone.

Thanks in advance

George:confused:

Have them checked for specifications on a Hunter 9700. Don't know a thing about the tires, but would be surprised if they would last 15K miles.

It's worth it for the wheels if the wheels are in good shape.

depend what kind of bridgestones they are, some hi end models are ok on the Q.

Generally tires dont last nearly as long as most PPL think, Even on a luight car w/ a good tire (which does not always mean hi "treadwear" rating), I wouldnt put on more than 30,000 miles on a set as the belts insiede will be mostly broken by that point even if tread looks good.

On heavy cars you will rarely see more than 25k safe miels even iof teh tread looks good.Since can be easily checked by seeing if the tire hold its balance.

A Q45 or BMW 7 series wille xacsberate this problem due to the high negative camber in the fronts ( neccicarry of you want to make big cars handle well).

Even the best tires (Michelin pilots, Firehawk SZ50EP's) I wont leave on a Q for more than 20,000 miles.

So those tires are likely at the half way point.

I would make that pruchase for the wheels sake if you like them and the price is definetly right at $200, Infinti factory wheels are hi quality in roundness and strenght.

Also it never hurts to have 2 sets of wheels, one with summer/performance tires and one w/ winter tires.

Even 20,000 miles can be a LIFETIME on inferior weakly constructed tires designed for American Buicks and GrandPa to drive.........unfortunate 215/65/15 is no longer a performance tire size as it was 13 years ago when the Q was designed........some 225/60/15 are still made but the bulk have moved on to 16 and 17.

Very very very difficult to find a decent tire in oem sizes you just have to live with changing them often, especially if the alignment is not kept perfect at the center of range.

Ok they usually won't explode just vibrate you [and the car] to death........used harder tire stopping [meeting the 129 feet factory spec] is always a challenge and no oem size available will do it except the [difficult to deal with] Yokohoma AVS Intermediate...............most available [above 200 treadwear] tires are lucky to just add 20 feet to the stopping distance brand new and 30 feet used.

Most don't understand the tire braking interaction and assume all tires are the same.

Tirerack has recently addded a 50 to zero braking tire test: notice the variations 9-15 feet at this slower speed on brand new Ultra performance tires on much lighter cars.Double the distance when trying to compare such tires on a Q......again they never test obsolete 15" tires.
