Hello all,

So picking up an 09 3.5 SE MT on Saturday..super excited. Anyway been doing some research on wheels and tires and just wanted to make sure that I'm on the right 'track' :rotflmao :rotflmao

So I plan on going with 19x8.5 +35 all the way around with 245 35 19. Will this set up work with no rubbing? No modifications?
Probably going to go with eibach springs at some point as well. Not sure if the rims and tires are first or the springs. May just wait and do it all at once for maximum effect!

Thanks for any help/advice!

Yup, you won't have any problems even if you lower your car!

Good luck!

the rims and tire set up you have chosen with an eibach kit is still with 3% of the OEM specs. I have the same set up with an eibach kit. your good.

Using the calc. in the wheels/tires section I found that a 235/40-19 keeps you closest to OEM spec.
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/45-18 4.2in 13.2in 26.3in 82.7in 766 0.0%
235/40-19 3.7in 13.2in 26.4in 82.9in 764 0.3%
You're probably wanting a lower profile, but if you go with the size you mentioned your odometer will count faster (wrong way for me). Just my opinion, but lower profile tires isn't worth making your odometer roll over faster.
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/45-18 4.2in 13.2in 26.3in 82.7in 766 0.0%
245/35-19 3.4in 12.9in 25.8in 80.9in 783 -2.2%
Another thing to think about is that the smaller your O.D. is the larger your gap will be between the tire and fender.

Thanks for the input fellas!

Bama- so your saying that if I go with a 40 series tire the speedo will be accurate? With the lowering via the springs am I still good on clearance? I'd actually prefer a larger sidewall for comfort and less worry of potholes and what not.

Have to say the stock wheels are definitely growing on me- have the split 5 spokers. May just keep the stock wheels for a while, anything to be concerned with there as far as lowering with the eibachs? will the eibachs make the ride a lot harsher?

Thanks again

Steve

Considering that your stock tire O.D. is 26.3 and the 235/40-19 is 26.4" that is .1" difference (less than an 1/8") I'd say you'll be okay. That's 2.5mm if you're Canadian. I think rubbing comes when you're dropped more aggressive then Eibach's, very aggressive offset and a tire O.D. larger then OEM spec. I'm dropped on Eibach's, offset at +30 with my tires O.D. at OEM spec., and I don't rub. As for your odometer with the 235/40-19's it won't be perfect; there isn't a tire size from 18" to 19" that will make it perfect, but it's close and at least it with be a little on the tall side which means your odometer will count a little slower.
