So i was planning on getting some wheels for my s13 ina few months or so, after looking through stuff i decided maybe Sportmax 962's 18x9.5 back and 18x8.5 in front, 4 lug ofcourse. So my question is where is the best site to order them? for good price? or better off looking around on Nico classifieds

I looked at ebay too and they have 18x7 front and 18x9 outback, heared complains on them because it cause understeer..so i rather have 18x8.5 up front. Oh yea and does it need spacers to make it look like the picture below? i heard it need spacers up front?

I tried searching around but its better to ask more specific on my question. So Plz give me ur inputs

Liek this one But im planning on getting a kit too like the Type X but made by version select..and getting the car painted Alpine White maybe? so i would try to make it look similar to this

And is there Other alternative around Sportmax's price?

Also i want to run megan street coils or Ksports, anyone has experience on those? I just want to get the best out of wat i have so help me out guys.

Thanks

For one - What is the car going to be used for? Daily driven? I'd stay away from coilovers if it going to be driven every day.

Secondly, If the car isn't just going to look good - just to fill you in - the 962's are SUPER heavy IIRC. They ARE a great looking wheel - but stated above, are heavy.

And also, yet again, IIRC, I think there is a couple of members that have a grudge against KSports (I think Slappy for sure)

Megans, from what I understand, aren't too terribly bad for the price. But if your building a track car, go with a good name brand. JIC Magic makes some awesome coilovers, along with Stance coilovers. Just get some researching under your belt, figure out what your looking for from your wheel/tire performance, and your suspension performance.

Good luck man

yea its going to be my DD, just a dependable good looking everyday sexy beast to get form point A to B. and everything in between haha

i understand they're heavy, i jsut want something taht looks good and better than wat it stands right now, i want to choose Ksports because IntenseMotorsport is having Nico special for 695 i think? i heard Megans are pretty good too., so im jsut trying to get inputs before i go out and buy it...its just a daily driving i dont want to get those very expensive coils like stance or JIC magic, which i cant afford anyways.. But thanks for your input i appreciate it

heres MY .02

As far as DD coilovers, I do it, I've been doing it for the past however many years I've had my ride... no complaints. It's all in the spring rates and the damper settings you choose that determine the comfort. Obviously, the softer the spring rate, the more comfy it'll be. For street, I'd prefer somewhere along the lines of 7/5 kgs (front/rear) or something like that

As far as your choices:I'd get Megans over K-Sports any day... from Slappy's K-Sport thread... K-Sport's reliabilitly is close to none...

but I'd also recommend spending a couple hundred more for KTS or Stance.. the difference is what.. like $250? I mean, I have no major complaints on Megans (other than it's valving), but for a couple hundred more, you can get great entry level coilovers. Considering that suspension isn't a thing that changed regularly like oil is.... I think its worth it for the longevity and extra comfort.

As far as the wheels go: generally, I kinda don't support knock off wheels, lol... but if you must... I guess.if you want 18x8.5/9.5, I'd try to get an offset close to (difference of 5mm) +10 for the 8.5" and +15 for the 9.5". I doubt they come in those kind of offsets (correct me if I'm wrong), so get spacers to get the desired offset. (*hint* a 20mm spacer will make a +25 offset into a +5 offset, get it?)

yea i guess i'd wait few more months and get better coils like teins flex maybe? only if dam sportmax make lower offsets, those rims are +35 offsets, i guess better saving up for spacers too... im also looking at tehm sportmax 002's those looks nice.. but yea tahnks for ur input

Best summary is you get what you pay for... so good call on waiting

...and to add... one man's junk is another man's treasure when it comes to wheels... look for used premium wheels and you might find something worth your time that's also in your budget. With spacers just make sure your lugs are long enough... or just find wheels in the right offset...

zeroforum/225

There are a decent amount of used wheel sites out there too

Look at it like this also for those 600 bucks your getting a pretty comfortable ride with a so so drop. If you were to get the coilovers your going to have a nice drop with a go kart feel.

Common sense don't buy coilovers if you do plan to get the good ones

Hmm... we seem to have these threads every week or so. Let me fill you in with some info since some things your looking for, i'm using. Heres my opinion so all you guys that get butthurt about stupid crap, save it.

I have sportmax 962s, yea they are heavy, but i've seen brand name wheels that aren't too far off. Running spacers is a straight pain in the ***, so maybe getting better fitting wheels would be a better option. I got my set really cheap and this isn't my "track car" so i could care less, they look good with the right offsets. They are fine for a dd.

I have megan street coilovers, blah blah blah... whatever they arent the best but i've been running them for awhile, as well as a couple close buddies that track them much more than me and have had them for over 2-3 years with no problems whatsoever. Run them in my dd, but i'm not running them on my track car im building. They are a tad bouncy, but whatever, it doesnt bother me and to be honest, not too far off from more expensive Japanese coilovers.

It all comes down to you and how much you want to spend, theres an insane amount of options, so search around alittle more on each product.

exactly... you know you love my knockoffs adrian. This was just a dd car, but dont worry though, I'm working on a new car.

Its funny talking online though, everyone hates on sportmaxes and stuff. Then i go to a meet and everyone loves my wheels, even some premies and older dudes from other forums who despise everything on my car too.
