about how wide should i be looking at getting wheels when i plan on pushing between 350-400 hp... i dont wanna have traction probs... shouldn't 9 inches wide be enough???

Should be fine. IMHO tire compound has a lot more to do with traction than wheel width. So, get a decent 9 or 10" wheel and get a set of nice tires.
