Let me get with my wheel and tire guy...I bet I can get them for a little more WITH tires mounted and shipped than your paying for 2 sets of wheels with tires mounted and balanced...

just a thought

Edit: I didn't really notice your sig before since I was at work and pc's there block sigs, but now I'm at home and can see you're tuning your car to to run 10's in the 1/4. So, like I said earlier, if you're doing timed competitions... lightweight is a weapon of critical importance. It's obvious now that you're not looking for a middle-of-the-road compromise kind of wheel that you can use at the track and on the street. You need that wheel the will give you those fractions of a second. So go ahead and pull the trigger on the Draglights with some big bulging rubber...

Well $265 per wheel ($1060) is not cheap in my mind, When I can find draglites here in KC (home of WELD racing) for $340 for a set of 4.

I am so confused!!!!! I want them both but can't afford it!!!!!!

Yeah, but the Weld's have ZERO aesthetic appeal. But since that's what you're going for, get the Draglights.

I really don't want to be that guy but if you are shooting for 10's but can not afford rpf1's or two sets of wheels, then maybe you need to re-evaluate your goals. 10's is not as easy as people on the internet make it out to be.

Whoa whoa... I am not poor or anything. I could buy $1500 wheels right now. I have the money. but my budget did not really allow for any upgrades aesthetically because aesthetics won't get me to my goals

I'm spending more on tuning than most people spend on budget builds, so l'm not the guy who won't be able to deliver the dynos and track videos. Some people run their mouths about "Goona do this and that... etc,.." but I am not that guy.

I Will easily hit 11s, I absolutely guarantee it by Spring 2010. I am 'shooting' for 10s though. Not gonna be easy but it can happen. The question is:How sexy will I look running 10s? lol

I never have or ever will suggest that running 10 seconds is easy. but you are not aware of my 'build' either.

I will 100% for sure be putting down 450 rwhp and about 420 rwtq. That is enough to run 10s with the proper chassis tuning/suspension/tires. The only other issue would be weight... which is a 'small issue'

I totally agree! Which is why somewhere in my mind I was cheering for the section of people who think the wheel weight isn't a huge factor

It is not just about weight though. You are going to need some decent sized rubber to run that fast. Not many people run 10's on low profile 18's.

I don't think anyone thinks wheel weight isn't important. But simply that it's importance varies depending on what your goals are. And since your goals weren't immediately clear from the beginning of this thread, you just got a whole bunch of wild opinions based on everyone's personal perspective instead of what was needed for your project.

But it was a good discussion/thread regardless.

Well this was to help me understand the principles. Picking a wheel would ultimately be decided based on the conclusion of wheel weight directly affecting rotational weight.

IE: There is 2 reasons to remove the power steering, weight and drivetrain power loss.

So my question from the beginning was: Are the wheels just weight? or both weight AND drivetrain loss?Because if I literally lose ground power then screw it, I'll sell the 18s.
