Hey everyone out there. I have a question...and a few comments. Check this out... I have a 96 240sx se model. It's an auto, and is mostly stock. When I bought the car, it had the stock 5spoke se rims on it, but they were curbed badly, and since the tires were totally shot too, I replaced them both. Here's where it gets interesting. I also own a 2001 maxima se, that came with the factory 17s. I put 18s on the max, and moved the 17s from the maxima to the 240. I checked and the offset is identical, so the rims are totally interchangeable. The tires on the 17s were factory 225/50/17, and they had approx. 30,000k miles on them at the time of the swap. They fit fine. I checked these tires again yesterday, and they are nearly bald, due to serious allinment issues, so I had to replace them. Sounds simple enough, huh? Well, new tires of the same size rub the underside of the strut coil because of the full tread, so I can't use the same size tire. I'm kinda glad cause they are kinda narrow looking. I wound up putting 235/45/17 kumo tires on instead. They cleared the underside of the coil, but rubbed on the back of the tire on the strut assy. Well, the small town tire shop I was at had two generic 1/4'' spacers that fit. They are not even close to being an exact fit, so they don't center up on the hub. Either way, they gave me enough clearance to use the wider tires on the car. Does anyone know where to get exact spacers for my car? Also, now that the rims are out further, they don't even touch the center 'ring' of the hub. Is this a problem? The studs carry all the weight now. Lastly, only half of the lug screws onto the studs now. Is that still safe, or do I need to get longer studs? I can't use a tuner type lug cause the stud holes on the rims are too small to allow for it.....or at least I think so. Help!!!!

Also search NICO's Wheel, Tire, Brakes & Suspension forum
