Err. the original RIM is 15", 5" width, offset +40mm, 4 lugs 4x114.3, lug size 1.2-1.25. Tire 185-65-15
I did a lot of research on this so I share with you guys. I was able to put in (without any modification) a 17"x7 RIM, offset +42mm with tire 215-45-17. but I think I can go for a larger tire 225(mm)-Find the RIM size you want: 4 lugs 4x4.5", offset +40mm (but someone said you can go from +/-5mm from your factory recommended offset, means +35 to +45mm)-Find out your new tire size if you change RIMhttp://
www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlsome place will not install over size tire/wheel (like costco). Also when your wheel diameter is much larger than original size, consider the affect of traction control and speedometer correction, factory void warranty or not, brake control, top wheel space when your car is loaded with weight etc...-Find the right lug: I believe Nissan all use the same lug size 1.2x1.25. mostly you should consider long lug with lock. Most custom wheels have narrow hole for lug so your original lugs won't fit or you can't use the wrench to lock it in. Keep the special lug key with your car. Note: -if you change your overall diameter, you should consider your spare tire too because when "sh*t" happens, your car will be crippled on your way back home.-With larger tire, consider if your front wheels is safe when you turn (will they touch your fender?)Good luck.
