Wheel sagging after replacing control arms

Hey folks, 1991 D21 4x4. I'm getting confused on the put together notes.

I've replaced everything, steering and suspension, bushings, linkage etc and I'm putting her back together and when I lower the weight with the wheel on it sags right into the wheel well. If it weren't for the rubber stopper on the lower cross arm, it would continue upwards.

Am I to use a floor jack and level the crossarms with the passenger side by eyeball and then tighten those cross arms down? (keeping in mind I'm on a uneven dirt driveway). I tried this already by placing the wheel on and figured that was good spot but didn't realize I was on uneven ground and the wheel sank on me, I'm guessing I didn't have enough torque on the upper control arms either or that uneven ground screwed me up so I've taken the wheel off, loosened everything off and am ready to try again.

Did I forget something?

Missing a torsion bar fastener, maybe? That's the only way it should ever sink to the stops.

THE TORSION BAR!!!! Bloody hell I completely forgot to connect the back of the torsion bar back to the truck....erggggg
I'll bet when I drop the truck on its wheel it doesn't sag up into the wheel well again, gee I wonder why?

No worries, the only tech never to screw up a wagon was Jesus. Been there, done that.

Hey Vstar, just double checking here, I've already had to pull apart a lot of yesterday's work so I could get the lower cross arm to bend low enough to get at those backing bolts on the torsion bar backing plate on the cross arm.

So I've got the lower cross arm jacked up to 0 clearance on it's bumper and I'm installing my torsion bar again but I see the lever where the shackle bolt to adjust the clearance isn't flush with the frame. Because I've forgotten everything I did a month ago when I started, does the adjustment nut on the shackle bolt pull that lever to inside the frame where I want it? Seems like a lot of torque so I just wanted to check first.

Yah, the tension bolt pulls it up into the body. See FA-2 here (PDF page 316):

Of course it's loaded with massive torque, those bars are supporting the whole weight of the front end.

Thanks for confirming Vstar. I guess I didn't need to take apart everything after all, just had to ensure i had the lower cross arm jacked to 0

Double ugh.
