I just purchased a set of wheels and tires from a G35. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...item=

I don't really understand offsets. I read somewhere the J30 has an offset of about 35 - 45. The wheels I purchased are listed with an offset 45. I'm fairly sure that means I won't have to do anything special to get them to fit, right?

BTW, I have a 97, so no HICAS issues.

Thanks.

you will have no fitting issues that i know of...had they been the 19's you would have needed spacers

I have a 97 J as well & the owners manual under technical & comsumer information says that the offset is 1.57 inches or 40 mm.

I am not sure how the difference in offset will affect the wheel bearing wear. I would check with a pro maybe a tire & rim shop in your area to make sure.

http://trucks.about.com/od/tru...t.htm

Definition: Offset dictates how a wheel sits in relation to the hub. Factory wheel offset is determined by the location of the center line of the wheel bearings.

Many aftermarket wheels are designed for a specific look or style and may not adhere to the manufacturer's design. You've probably seen wheels that stick out past the vehicle's body (positive offset), and others where the center is nearly flush with the outer portion of the rim (negative offset). While they may have the look or style you desire they may also shorten wheel bearing life.

I would like to see some pics if you do install.

Good luck!

I probably won't have them installed until after Christmas because I'm fairly busy with my job until then. I'll post pictures, no problem (I'm thinking they'll look good). It sounds like the only thing I need to worry about (possibly) is wearing out the wheel bearings too soon. I'll definitely look into that. thanks.

Here are the pictures of my J30 with G35 wheels, as promised. The car could use a good wash (I just drove from Cincinnati to St. Louis), but I'm liking them so far. BTW, I have some 15 OEM wheels/tires I'll be selling soon, in case anyone is interested.

Those look really nice. I wouldn't mind a set of the other kind of g35 rims. What size tires are do you have?

The wheels came with Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 all-season 215/55/17 tires which ends up being larger than the original size....the odometer under reads the speed by 4-6% now, I forget exactly. These tires still have some tread left so it will be awhile before I get new ones, but I'll look into getting smaller tires eventually so that the diameter is equal to the originals.

I'm starting to think chrome wheels would have looked much nicer but they definitely look better than the originals.

Those g35 wheels look real sharp, and the larger tire filled the wheel well up nice.
