I was looking to get the Sportmax 006 wheels with the 1.75" lip up front and a 3" lip in the back. They would be 17x7 in front and 17x8 in the back. I think the fronts have a +40 offset. I dont really know how to calculate offset and have tried to read about it on previous forums, but for some reason I could not figure it out. If anybody could help me and let me know if this would work for my s14 that would be much appreciated. Thanks

your gonna have some rubbing issues with that offset if you choose to go with coilovers. Those offsets are crap.

imo, I'd look into getting something different with a much smaller offset and wider wheel... stock wheels are like 7" wide, why would you buy an aftermarket wheel that's the same width and possible worser offset?

Could you maybe explain offset to me to give me a better understanding of what I need to look for in the future? Thanks

Well if this offset is no good, does anyone know of a black wheel with a red lip that has a better offset, any lead in a better direction would help. Thanks

look for something with a much smaller offset... but offset and wheel width go hand in hand, so like a +40 offset in a 7" width will look different than a +40 in a 10" width. Offset determines where the spokes on the wheel will sit in the wheel itself. a smaller offset (i.e. +10) will make the wheel look more "flush" with the fender as opposed to "sunken" where your wheels look like they dissapeared inside your wheel well.

Let us know what wheel size your planning on running, and we'll let you know what offsets to look for. But stay away from the 7" width crap. Go bigger.

Im looking for an aggressive look and I think a wider wheel would go hand in hand with that. I am looking for a wheel with a lip, is there any wheels that you would suggest? I have a red s14 so I thought that a black wheel with a red lip would look pretty good. let me know what you think I am always open to opinions and suggestions, thanks.Nick

ok im just going to put up some wheels that you might like that i also like

Motegi Touge:

they come in a 17x9 +24 offset but you could add spacers to your liking.

5 Zigen fn01rc:

they look awesome on 240s even better on the S14, and they come with a pretty good offset depending on which size you go with.. On the 17x9 they have i think a +20 offset.. And they come in sizes wider than youd ever want them.

SSR Sp1 Professor:

these have a decent size lip and look really good, only prob is they can get a lil pricey as wheel size goes up. But if price is an issue they do make a really similar looking wheel some people say they are knockoffs, but if you want the Sp1 look just not the price you might like them..

Rota D2:

they come in pretty good sizes, you can get 17x8.5 4 wheels for 720 bucks...

Theres a lot more wheels that i cant think of right now, but the ones i just listed are prolly my favs at the moment. hope i helped..

not a problem, and i just realized that you have a 97 S14 so you have the 5 lug wheels right? well since i realized that, you might get something out of looking at this thread. if you havent seen it you will prolly like it, and if you have, its always fun looking at it again :D well the link wasnt working, but it was jsut showing very deep lips on 240s it was pretty cool...

Z ilvia.com/f/showthread.php?t=129865

just change it to Z ilvia with no spaces (it keeps autocorrecting to with a space) and the .com to .net... idk why it wont let me post the correct url in there......

Just a quick question, would the sportmax's work if I used spacers? or would the wheel stick out too far?

they will fit ( im sure they will fit 17x8 seeing that they even fit on 17x9's, 17x8 will prolly fit even better though) they would even fit 17x9 but in the front ( on a 17x9) you would have to add a pretty hefty size spacer and in the rear a bigger one because they would be sunken in the fender well if you didnt, and would not look right... you can check out this thread to see what im talking about..
