I run a detail shop here in Memphis....
They are using HF acid-based cleaners to clean your wheels. This is the most dangerous wheel cleaner on the market, only produced by local "bath tubber" suppliers who have not updated their formulas throughout the years. The way these cleaners work is that they "flash-etch" the clear on your wheels. While this removes the brake dust without having to touch the wheel, it also removes a tiny bit of clear with each application.
Your factory wheels are hypersilver and were dusted black before the "hyper" was sprayed. The acid has removed some of the hyper and now the black is exposed.
Any of that make sense?
He will not own up to it. He is wrong, we maintain *many* vehicles with Hypersilver wheels, a lot of them Infinitis and the wheels look just as good as the day they rolled off the floor.
If you really want to get his attention tell him that you are aware of his cleaner and plan to call OSHA on him--he won't be using that wheel cleaner any more.
