ok so i just had 2 new rims for the rear installed on the car. but one of them sticks out more from the fender that the other.I would say about 1-2 inches more. they are exactly the same in size and offset. anyone have an idea of why this would happen?

pics please!!!

is it the rims that stick out or the tires? Are both tires exactly the same?

Are they stock 240sx rims or aftermarket?

Did you notice this in the past?

Perhaps your suspension got tweaked and the subframe is bent a bit?

did you put them on? Check the lugs and hub centering rings and make sure they are all seated correctly. You can also make sure the 4 bolts holding in the bearings are tight. I noticed that the bearings have a little spacer between the bearing and axle assembly. You can also check the sub-frame bushings to make sure nothing is bent.(rear assembly is kinda like one piece and if shifted just one inch would make one side in one inch and make other side "seem" to be off by 2 inches on other side). Hope if helps..try putting on old rims and see if they are off as well (just a thought that way you can rule out the new rims first)

The first thing that came to my mind was different offsets...

Strange problem you have there.

it was liked that before on my other rims too. these are aftermarket rims and the rims and tires are the exacty same size. i will post pics tonight when i get home. which one is the subframe bushing sorry i just dont know edit: oh and its the tire and rim that stick out. if you look at the car from the front you can see the rear drivers side wheel just sticking out a bit further than the other one. i did a carfax report on the car and its got no reported accidents. i hope this is not going to be something expensive to fix.

Man, this is a werid problem. Looks like there's some kind of damage to your subframe, you have worn out bushings or alignment is messed up. This is eccentric bolt that changes camber. If you turn this, top of your wheel goes in or out. It looks plain in FSM, but actually, there's a big chunk of metal attached to it. Maybe someone messed with it before? Anyway, I'd take it to an alignment or frame shop and see what's going on. Mine is that way too. I mean rear left and right are not the same. I installed SPL RUCA, but haven't done the alignment yet. I was going to do after z32 brake upgrade.

If it is cambered out that much it should fee different and bad. Get us some pics and I think someone should be able to see the problem. After pics of it on the ground it would be good to jack up the rear and take the wheels off to see any differences on each side.

You're going to have to get it up in the air anyway... So get the jackstands out and rest the car on them. Grab your creeper, some safety glasses, and your "head" light (everyone needs one), and inspect the all the bushings and mounting points.

Something is definitely not right. Hopefully we can help you figure it out.

You should know way better than this slip...

It's 99% your wheel alignment.

Unless your car was in an accident before...

I guess yes, but I'd go easy on it since you don't know exactly what is wrong with it.

If it makes you feel any better, my car has the same issue - actually, most people probably have this problem, but never notice it, especially on stock rims. I have a decent alignment too, but there are so many adjustable arms/bolts that it's gonna require some creativity on my part so that the alignment guys don't screw it up, haha.

I drive it, track it, hard park it, runs fine.

I would have a four wheel allignment done. Mis-allignment will eat up your tires. Good Luck.

I haven't noticed my stock rims and tires at different depths in the wheel well but my vert pulls slightly to the left even after a 2-wheel alignment. a 4-wheel was next.

On a more important note, congrats on your daughters baptism!

yeah thanks that will cure it cosmetically our fire was in northern cal. it lasted 5 days but we had ash all over the place. schools were closed for a day cause of the smoke and ash.
