Wheel/Offset/Tire Size Suggest S13 5 lug:I have searched, but would like specific suggestions based on what i want Please. I have read multiple threads that do not fully explain what i want to me. Also in the FAQs half the links are broken and don't really explain that much about tire size and offset options.

1) Making an Autocross Mainly/Occasional Drag Car2) Will be getting Megan Racing Track Coilovers3) Would like meaty tires due to the autorcorss and drag (???/45ish) no drifting)4) Would like as wide as possible so i can put the power to the ground, yet remain w/o camber problems.5) Handling is very important6) Open to staggering and non-staggered wheels.7) Mainly looking at 17x?? wheels, but am open to lower wheel sizes as well.

Thanks a TON for your guys' help. I have put wheels on a car before but i honestly wasnt to worried about performance (DD). Once again i really appreciate your guys' help with a question im sure you feel you have answered in one way or another 1000 times. I know the feeling, I work in internet tech support lol.

P.S. I even used spell check

Offsets have to do more w/ looks & clearance of coilovers (& sometimes brakes, although that is more w/ spoke design). Width is subjective, usually more to do w/ looks than anything unless you are putting out some decent amount of power (think 250whp+).

1) If you are seriously competing in autox, then you have to know what class you will be running in - the maximum rim width/tire size for that class would be my recommendation. From the sounds of it, you probably haven't done much autoxing - for the first couple years or so, it's the driver that is the limiting factor, not the car - keep that in mind .

2) Ok... that tells me you will want something that will clear your coilovers. x8 +30 is the normal "should fit" minimal requirement. Something lower offset should work fine. You can search on google for rim offset calculators to figure out if a rim will work for you.

3) Ok... that's really up to you, depends on what you see as more important. If you can afford two sets of rims w/ different tires, or just want to run what you brung type deal. I like the Federal SS595 - really cheap, really sticky - a little on the heavy side because of the stainless steel braided sidewalls, but works fine unless, again you are seriously competing in drag or autox & need the absolute best. If you have a higher budget, there is the Federal 595RS, super super sticky. After that, you are just hitting R-Compound territory, etc.

4) wide as possible depends on your power output (look above). Wider will not give you camber problems persay, it is lower height will give you camber problems. Get camber arms to fix this if need be, or don't lower your car too much. typically, people run either x7, x8, x9 all around, or a version of those staggered (mix in a x10 in the rear for x9 front stagger).

5) that's a relative term. how a car handles w/ x7 vs x8 can be neglible to 90% of drivers, and for the most part can be compensated by either adjusting the way the driver drives, or some car adjustments, tire adjustments, suspension adjustments, etc.

6) this is currently being discussed somewhere on this forum. imho, stagger is mostly for aesthetics... again, unless you are outputting A LOT of hp.

7) Most wheels are limited to your taste in aesthetics & your budget. There are plenty around the classifieds & in the "post pics of your 240" type threads around there. Should give you plenty of ideas. Some examples 5Zigen FN-01RC, Work Emotion CR Kai, Rota P45R, SSR Professors... all depends on your taste and budget.

hey man thanks for the info. I have a few questions/comments though.

Id definately like to be making above 245 hp.... I'm planning on RB swap then upgrades to around 400hp hopefully over the next year or so. Thats is why im concerned about the size and putting it to the ground.

I was kinda looking for some race proven combos on some cars that are in the 400 to 500hp range.

All of that information helps, but you left out the main requirement to get you pointed in the right direction.

Budget

What is the maximum you can spend? With your plan for 4-500 hp, it seems like youre likely going to step up a class into the 'baller' wheel category. Let me know the maxmum you can envision spending on a wheel/tire package and I can start susggesting some options for you.

Also, do you mind rolling the fenders? Its nothing to be scared of, and really opens up your options.

Not scared of rolling the fenders, i was thinking i probably would have to. I would like to spend a 2000ish probably maybe a little more. Generally been looking for some volk/work wheels. I want something durable and nice but not crazy expensive like lowenharts.

*EDIT* Thanks for all the help guys
