I have an s13 that I'll be doing a z32 brake swap, 5lug conversion, and will be swapping out the suspension which will lower it about 1-2 inches. I've been looking at a set of 17x8 wheels to put on it, but I'm not sure how much offset I would actually need to clear the caliper and such.
Does anyone know? I would really appreciate the information.

If this has already been covered, I apologize, but I haven't been able to locate it here.

This is a question we can't answer.
Offset has no real bearing on what you are asking. Caliper clearance is determined mostly by wheel spoke and mounting surface design. Offset, in combination with wheel width and tire size, determines your coilover/spring and fender clearance.

What wheels are you trying to fit? Perhaps someone knows if they'll clear.

And that's why I come to you wonderful folks!
Well, I was looking at some enkei kojins or RPO3s. Again, in 17x8.

My enkei mm2s barely clear my 26mm calipers. I don't remember the offset anymore, but I think they were 40 (i was trying to keep factory dimensions in mind but upgrade the size to a 16x6.5). The clearance was so close that the paint I put on the Nissan logo was milled.

I'm not too familiar with the wheels you're looking at, but a few extra mils of offset clearance will help you I think.

Alright, I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Perhaps some 45mm offset then.
