To clear your coilovers with 17x8, start with a offset less than 30mm. Lower numbers push the wheel further out away from the struts. You'll have to consider spoke design (with a nice low offset) to clear your Z brakes.

people buy wheels anywhere from 6.5-11 inch in width you decide what you want

wide wheels are cool atleast 17x9 ~+15 or lower and in the rears atleast 17x10 but tires are expensive(i like 17x9 +7 18x9.5 +10-15)

cant really tell you the offset it depends how you want it to look and the coilovers too. but along the lines of under 30 like what iwannas15 said should fit. if you have or will do any of the following: wide fenders, pulled lip, rolled lip, tire size, what flush means to you? negative/positive camber, (cut fenders bad boy stuff) the offset and size you need may change also.

if not u can stick with something smaller good luck finding some thats 4 lug besides 5zigen.

make sure you get like 3 different types of lock nuts, an alarm, clutch and steering wheel auto locks, a bunch of kill switches and atleast a 9 around you within 6 feet radius if you go bling though. i know that sounds like its going too far but cheap wheels nobody cares about but if you see some shiney say work or wed wheels its over the whole world will come after you and you gotta geaaahh up to protect it lol.
