Most aftermarket wheels use tapered 'tuner style' lug nuts while most OEM wheels use ball or radius style lug nuts. If the lug nuts say "not for use on OEM wheels" its because the lug style is meant for an aftermarket wheel.
The right style of lug is extremely important. If you get the wrong one, your lugs may loosen/come off over time due to insufficient mating surface contact. Usually you can just look at the lug nut and look at the lug seat on the wheel to make sure that they match.
These pictures are from another forum, I'll remove them if needed. The chrome lug is OEM ball aka radius. The blue lug is a Rays tapered aka conical
Edit for more lug nut fitment info paraphrased from McGard's website:To see if a new lug nut/lug lock will fit your wheel, first visually inspect the current and new lug nut. If they appear to match, install one new lug nut, then remove it. If the lug nut mating surface is not marked at all by the wheel lug seat, then you need to ensure that it is the right length and not bottoming out on the stud. The lug nut should be marked slightly by the lug seat, but it shouldn't be gouged or have non-uniform damage. Gouging likely means wrong style.
