I drive 2006 G35X, 4 door sedan AWD
73,500miles
Was experiencing rattling from my wheels while I drove and loud noise and vibration from my axles and what sounded like my tires. Been like this for a couple of months. Very loud in car, couldnt hear radio unless on 20 or higher. Veering left or right on highway at high speeds would cause vibration in steering wheel. Sounded like tires where hitting fendor lining but it was not.

Took it in yesterday. Mechanic says both front hub bearings are shot (this is what I suspected). Said the grinding and vibration has damaged the axle, and it most likely needs to be replaced.

Quoted me at $190 for Axle and about $635 per hub bearing (to "rebuild"). Cant just be taken apart and greased, way past that point.

Am i getting ripped off or if its bad enough, can it cost that much?

Thanks

Expect to pay very high prices at any dealership for labor and parts.

Not a dealership....just a body shop
