Ok so say we've got a tt supra, dynoed at 320 at the wheels, just hypothetical =)

Will it be running 160 per wheel? for example if the car was shifted over so only one wheel ran the dyno and the scond wheel was free spinning but the car still supported.

Well the power only goes to two wheels so I guess if you eliminate one all you have is one wheel with the same power going to it. Now if you jack up one wheel power will go to it but not as much because it is not under a load so the other wheel will dyno higker than 160.

or maybe it does since there is 320hp at the end of the driveshaft and the differential splits it into 2 seperate but equal parts...i dont know

I've been trying to figure out the splitting of power between the driveshaft and the differential....is it simple 320 hp spread throughout the axle, or is it 160 each to two parts?

It depends on the type of differential.

Try howstuffworks.com I don't feel like typing all of it. :)

Same thing as RWD vs AWD. For 2wd, If you lock one of the wheels, all torque will go to that one unlocked wheel. The only difference is the less wheels putting down the power, the less mechanical drag there is on the whole system.

HP isnt measured per wheel on a dyno. Idealy, both wheels will get the same amount of Torque, thats why the LSD was invented. If both wheels are rotating at the same rate, they are putting out the same power. All dynos are run with the drive wheels spinning at the same speed.

In short: It doesnt matter because its measured as a whole.
