My rear breaks started making noise when I would step on the pedal, I could also feel it in the pedal. I didn’t know what it was so I took it to a shop. They told me that my wheel cylinders were bad and that they started to leak. I just wanted to know if I have to bleed the brakes since I am going to be installing them my self? Also is it hard to install the wheel cylinders? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will need to bleed them. There is no fluid in the cylinders when you put them on so you will need to get all the air out or you will end up with a very mushy pedal and the brakes will be ineffective.

It is not too difficult to do. Just take your time and have the correct tools on hand. Make sure you have plenty of brake clean on hand as well. Brake fluid is a PITA when you get it on your hands and tools.

Will I need any special tools to bleed the brake system?

no, normally nipples are 10 mm wrench. A piece of clear plastic tube and a mason jar to catch the fluid helps keep the place clean.you can try doing it by yourself, open the nipple and wait till clear fluid with no bubbles comes out.lock nipple and try brake peddle. if its normal, then you are OK. If its still squishy and soft it didn't work. Dont forget to keep toping up the master cylinder. If this doesn't work follow the directions in the FSM using two people.there are one man bleed nipples available and various pressurized brake bleeders.
