I want to run Stance GR+ Pro coils on my S13 hatch. For wheels, I am going to run 17x8 +35 in the front, and 17x9 +35 in the rear (yes, they are Sportmax, and no, I don't care if you don't like them or think they are crap).

My question is, what width tire will fit this setup without any spacers? I searched, and found a few people running different suspension setups and tire sizes with this wheel setup. Ideally, I would want to run 215's up front and 235's in the back, but will run 205's and 225's if necessary for a nice stretch.

I REALLY don't want to run any spacers, so I am wondering what tire size is necessary to work this setup.

And please, don't tell me to get some "better" sized wheels or different offsets. I like the style of these wheels, like the stance of them on the S13 with a nice drop, they are not expensive, and the offsets with these widths make the wheels as flush as I would want them, and will drop nice with a roll on all 4 corners. If your response will be for me to get 9" fronts with a +10 or whatever, don't bother.

It should clear front coilovers... although for an 8" you'd really want to get as low as you can in offset, ideally like a +25 or less (thank macphearson for that).

205 on an 8" is unessessary, especially for +35. Hell, you can probably run 225's up there without worry. Tire stretching is only in regards to fender fitment, not so much suspension clearing, which at a +35 is probably your main concern.

I dont understand why people are soo opposed to other people's opinions... its just the internet. lol

Ideally, you'd what to aim for such width and offset combos like 8" +10 and 9" +15 or +20

Thanks for the help. I have heard a couple of different things regarding the fitment of this setup recently, so I figured I'd take it to those who know to show me the way.

No, I'm not opposed to other people's opinions. And yes, I know the prevailing thought about wheel offsets on the S-chassis on this site. Personally, MY opinion is that, on a stock bodied car, an 8" or 9" front wheel with a +20 or lower offset sticks way too much rubber outside the fender. I have seen some with like an inch of rubber outside the fenders, yet people call it "flush". ME, I think it looks ridiculous, like a Wrangler or a go-cart.

With aero and overfenders, wider wheels look damn good, but with that body work, it warrants bigger wheels to look appropriate. In my opinion, stock bodies need more of a stock-ish offset and stock-ish widths. Keeps with the sleeper theme, if that's your thing.

If I look at my car from the front, I don't want to see much tire on the sides. Not a 17x7" +43 look or anything, but I don't feel the fronts have as much room for wide wheels than the rear without looking silly.

Anywho, if anyone is running that particular setup, I would appreciate the help.

I know people stretch for fender clearance, but I personally wouldn't want to run a stretched 215 on a 9" (I would on an 8", though...) or some wild camber, and drive around some of the streets downtown like that, just to get it to fit up front.

I have seen some nice rides on this site with some huge wheel setups, done right. Unfortunately, I feel like I have seen just as many cars that have so much tire sticking out they need flares. I feel like the fender design of the 240SX (the top of the wheel well is much further out than the bottom) makes for some funny wheel fitments. Maybe I just have a different definition of the word "flush" than others on this site. Different strokes for different folks, I guess...

Thanks for your help! Differences of opinion aside, some of you guys really know your stuff!

probably going to need a 215 up front, for the most part thats the most you can run and still clear, 8 +35 is just too close

out back whatever you want, but keep it close to avoid too much of a stagger, like 235/40, 245/40 tops
