So quick question, and yes I've searched quite a bit. What is the factory inner wheel clearance on a NA Z32 with stock 7.5" wide wheels or any other wheel (please provide full wheel specs)? Thanks in advance.

Stock wheels are 16x7.5 +45 I believe for the NA and TT fronts, TT rears are 16x8.5 +35 I believe
Someone correct me if I'm wrong though

Thanks but that's totally not what I need. I know the wheel sizes and offsets. What I need is the distance between inner lip of the wheel (where you attach the balancing weights on the inside, where the rim meets the tire) and the closest item to it (which IIRC is the spring) I am trying to figure out how much deeper then stock I can go without rubbing the wheel/tire on anything.

Here are my numbers (eibach pro springs, stock alignment spec, NA chasis)

Front 18x8.5" +28 effective offset(+43 with 15mm spacer) with 245/40/18 tires. Closest point of contact is tire to the third link (where upper control arm bolts to). Gap is hard to measure, but I got about 12-14mm. (Note: with no spacer, my tire was rubbing very very slightly under that third link.)

Rears 18x9.5 +38 offset with 275/35/18 tires. Closest contact point is side of tires to spring. Gap is 24mm, gap to wheel it self was 28mm.

Hope that helps,
Peter

Normally the most inset you can go is a 10 +30 with like a 275. If you have modded steering, you'll have less inner clearance at full lock.

I'm more worried about going out and could actually keep the inner spacing the same but I'd like to maximize wheel/tire width. I've got plans for going widebody.

Zombie thread alert: yeah so its getting close to that time, so gotta confirm some numbers I've been crunching. Looking at the following setup:

F 18x9.0 +32 245/35
R 18x10.5 +27 285/30

What do you think? Will it work? Planning on +20mm wide fenders up front and +30 to +50mm flares out back.

If I decided to go a little crazy could I get away with running a square set with 10.5 front and rear in +27 (my calculations say no)?

Thanks Ziggy, but I've done all the math, and since I am about 9000 miles away from my car I don't have the capacity to actually measure everything, I have confirmed that the wheels will fit on the hub and with the bodywork I am planning will work under the fenders. My real issue at this point is whether the will be hitting any of the suspension or unibody. But thanks for that site, its a great one to plan with.

I know, that's why its a gift ;) Use the numbers from itsa300zx, then you can use the calculator to see the largest offsets you can run :)

I have, and once again thank you for the gift, thing is the numbers aren't exactly lining up with what itsa300zx said and rightly so because "Gap is hard to measure, but I got about 12-14mm" Either way I think I'll have to just wait and do all the measurements myself cause I don't trust no one anyway. Thanks all. I should be getting back into it sometime in June and hopefully by the time we start getting turbo weather in Houston I'll have her back on the road. :bigthumb:

Edit: So judging from the gift's calculations and what itsa300zx posted, in OEM trim there is less than 14mm of space between the inside of the tire and the upper link? Sorry guys, I can build engines and figure out suspension geometry on paper but the concept of wheel sizing/offset completely escapes me. I am the biggest proponent of teach a man to fish but I just need someone with wheel experience to check my math. PLEEEEEEZZEEEEEEEEE!

I want to go square with 285/30-18x10.5 +20, gift says it will work. Please someone check my math. Thanks

Thats on the rear correct? I've got a 275/35-18x9.5 +35 (actually +40 but I added a 5mm spacer to flush it with the quarter). I can measure it.

Square as in Front and Rear :gapteeth: but any actual measurement will help. I have seen 2 other Z32s with a 10.5" square setup on rimtuck but both seem to have spacers and obviously no note about them.

Hahha, yeah but how sweet would a 10.5 square setup be, and it would help alleviate a bit of the pushing issues our cars have.
