im wondering if you want to clear coat a polished lip on a wheel?? would the duplicolor wheel clear coat make the polished finish look cloudy/funky?? id rather just clearcoat the whole wheel, but not if the polished lip will look funky after.

One can never polish a bare metal to as bright a luster and as flawless as a wheel manufacturer..

Two choices with polished (bare) aluminum wheel:1. polish constantly and witness the slow but certain deterioration of the polished luster, as the shine becomes the opaque blah that all polished wheels become2. Have a refinisher ($$) do a polish and clearcoat that will sustain a very high shine, but will eventually deteriorate into the chipped and oxidized look that happens with time and use.

If you're just doing the lip, I say DIY shine them. The polish isn't supposed to be perfect, in my opinion.

I would say do not. Polish them constantly instead.

are you suppose to use sand paper or steelwool to polish it?
