Hey guys. I'm nearing the point where I'm gonna put new wheels on my '92 NA and don't know if I should go staggered or one size all the way around. I would think a bigger rear wheel would be better with more power, but since I'm not doing much under the hood, won't larger back wheels just make it slower?
I'm looking to do either 18x9.5 +20 on all corners, or that size up front, and 18x11 +20 out back.

IMO those sizes are obsurd. most youd want on an na out back is 9, front id stay at 8 or the same as the rear. huge wheels like that are going too add a whole lot of weight. you will start slower and stop slower. not to mention the insane tire prices you are going to pay. i always liked rims with a lip and lots of spokes, kind of like the nice bmw m3 wheels. i know a lot of my friends that are into rims and stance etc like volks rays or the cheaper ebay knock offs for like 500 bucks a set.

This, unless your pushing gobs of power, no reason unless you like the tire stretch look. For the rear, you would need about 295/30-18 to even be close to the same circumference as the stock NA tire size. Thats a lot of footprint on the ground. There are better options than a mustang size wheel.

I'm going for a stance look, and I also like a nice lip on the wheel. Many of the cars on Rimtuck or other sites run a wider wheel, but I don't know if they have tons of power to offset the weight of the wheels. The car will never be fast. I'm putting Tein s-tech springs and a pop filter on it, and want a nice flush wheel that looks good.

So what about 4 18x9.5's? I've seen this size on a Z, but the back wheels didn't look that aggressive.

I have 18x9 and they are flush enough for my taste. Its not all about the width, its about the offset. +20 is extremely aggresive.

Check these out, the +22 ones sit flush with the fender line, look at the pics below, they are 19's, but will sit the same as 18's. Just a thought, with 11 wide, you will run into issues of it rubbing inside the fender well.

I've seen this car and I like the fitment. Don't want 19's though. Plus, if I run a 40 series slightly stretched, won't that help with the fender clearance? Maybe a little pull?

If the offset is lower on the back, but the width is the same on all four, won't it look aggressive? I don't want that goofy sunken in look.

What I was trying to say, it will look the same on 18's, the offset and width are the same as the 19's, end result will be the same rim wise. Tires will be just a hair larger in the sidewall.

40 series is the height of the sidewall. I have 255/35-18 on the rear. It has a slight slant/stretched look, 40's will be larger. 225/40-18 will give a stretched look and keep the same diameter on a 18. You should be able to get away without a pull, but you will need a roll so it doesn't chew up your tire.

Are you talking the concave look in the rim? Depends on the type of rim you get, all rims do not have that look. But the look will be the same at the edge of the rim. Yes, offset lower in the rear with same width, will be aggressive or look more flush to the body lines.

I've got 225/40 on the wheels that the car had on it. The wheels are 8" wide and they suck. If I go with 9.5 all the way around, I can still use those tires and get a little stretch right? And the +20 offset will sit them at or just past the fender?

You will get a lotta stretch with 225/40, probably too much. But yes, your rims will stick out past the edge of the fender.

This one has 18x9.5 +20 on all corners, and I don't think it looks super aggressive. I would want a little more "poke".(I hope the link works)

I think the 9.5 all the way is my choice. If I don't like the rear fitment, I'll add spacers and run a lower aspect ratio on the tire.

Don't forget about the RUCA. That car you posted looks like it has a bit of neg camber to tuck the wheels under the fenders.

That car has coilovers too. So he may be lower than what I'm going. I will probably get them since I have them for the front already.
