Long story short I was driving home and felt a wobble in my steering wheel. Some ghetto lady goes "yo wheel comin awff" then bam I'm looking at the sky for half a second and then sliding down the road watching my front driver wheel bounce down the highway. I see two of my original lug studs are completely missing now and my ichiba spacer is still attached to my wheel....

Not really sure where to go from here. Front qp is screwed and my front bumper is crushed a little bit from being lifted and towed. I can fix it, I just need the little rounded nuts for the spacers from ichiba. How should I go about presenting this whole situation to them?

Ill put pictures up tomorrow but yeah i got a few. The spacers are bolt on. 15 or 20mm can't remember but regardless my wheel came off while driving in traffic. I'm extremely lucky that my car isn't fubar and that I'm safe along with everyone else near me. Luckily I was slowing down because that lady that told me my wheel was coming off. Had I not it would've happened around 55mph

Wow that's horrible.

Glad you're safe man.

That's weird i have always heard about this happening.

I had a set of 20mm bolt on's and never had a problem with them, Every time i had the wheels off i would make sure they where tight and everything looked good. Definitely contact them and make them know that it was the wheel spacer that was at fault. They will probably try to give you the run around but its worth a shot.

Good luck man, glad your not hurt.

If the spacer is still on the wheel, your original lugs failed not the spacers no?

Why didnt you STOP and check things out when you felt a wobble??? Thats what I want to know.

It might not be Ichiba's fault and you just didnt check how tight your lugs were.

Wow. that sucks. glad you are okay.

I never used spacers but I will definitely be more weary of them being properly installed.

What do you torque your lugs to? And Ichiba wont do anything about this, because of one reason. "For off-road use only"

I know people that have dealt with ichbia before and they have always been upset with the end result. I'm just saying it like i hear it, Everyone i have talked to that has dealt with them has always been run around in circles and more then less finally gave up after months of fight over lost or damaged parts.

Their bad customer service has nothing to do with their part being at fault

My left rear came off a couple months ago, it was my fault tho and my both me and my car came out fine.. I even found 3 out of the 4 lug nuts while I was running to go get the tire out of a field lol. Glad that you're okay tho, front wheels are proly a lot more scary than a rear falling off...

Well i've assessed the damage and everything I need. In order to get it running again I just need those little special nuts that are rounded on the inside that hold the spacer to the original studs. I'm not hurt and my car isn't thaaaat bad so I can't really go after them for any money, wouldn't be worth it. Just got done putting the most powerful threadtite stuff I could find on all my other spacers. (I have torch and air tools if I need to get them off).

Ok, I don't understand how some of the posters in this thread assume Ichiba is at fault? Did the product fail AFTER it was installed per their instructions? Did the OP use a torque wrench to verify the wheels nuts and special nuts were installed to manufacturer specifications? And to read "I've heard of this before" and yet the OP didn't know or do anything to mitigate the risk to themselves?

Glad the OP is safe and sound though.

I think I'm understanding the wrong lug type..... Which doesn't surprise me, I have seen the wrong type of lugs used too many times.

if ur spacer was still on the wheel, then ichiba has nothing to do with ur problem, its probably the old studs were weak..

i ran 20mm spacers for 2 years without a problem, never had to retite them n never really payed attention to it.. but the way i done it, i bought eom nuts n had a machine shop shave them flush to the spacer then i put tread lock on them n torque them to specs, even though i had to take the tire off a few times, the spacer never came loose.. also me have them nuts shaved flush help a lot b/c the wheel its self keep the nut on the spacer from moving..

i then sold them to zenkiman n he never had a problem with them either..

Well I tried calling ichiba but their phone is no longer in service and they've ignored my emails so I just got off the phone with a guy from Frsport and he's going to try and contact ichiba now :/

And the spacers were correctly torqued at 79-80 lbs
