So I'll be getting new wheels soon and I'm upgrading everything. No I dont need BBK or any space age stuff, or costly stuff that don't really make fundamental sense beyond the general performance of stock. The first thing I want to look into are the tires. I have it narrowed down to these tires.

Kumho Ecsta 4X
General G-MAX AS-03

Kumho Ecsta LE Sport
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Yokohama S.drive
Kumho Ecsta SPT
Pirelli PZero Nero All Season
Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum

I'm leaning towards Kumho Ecsta 4X and General G-MAX AS-03, but everything is in the running (I do realise they are different tire types). My MAIN concern is noise and comfort (noise mainly) over performance. At the end of the day anything that improves the stock tires in my main concern 3 fold is good enough...but more is better. I would like feedback from anyone who has direct experience with only the listed tires. I've read the specs and reviews, now I'd like to hear about them on the M. I'm not concerned with ANY other tire unless you tell me it will be $800 shipped and taxed no matter how good you believe they are.

The other stuff later.

Thanks for any help.

- Yeah, we hear ya man. Not to think that everyone is ignoring you.

I personnaly don't have any experience with any of those tires. Well wait, I have had (2) pair of these, but not that exact model u have listed above. And also, they were in the 16 and 17" variety. soo that probably makes a diff. too.

But I can say that the experience with the PZero Nero's was overall pretty good. Very good tread life and at the same time. - All season capable.

The other was the Kumho Ecsta... Again, a good tire and for the money paid, it handled well but grew loud after a few thousand miles.

again, these were much smaller tires than our M will use, so the contact patch will make a big diff. in handling and road noise. As an FYI, if no one has chimed in, it may be because no one has any experience with these tires.

I have the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum and think they're pretty loud. Sounds like the Kumhos have this trait. I've read reviews on the PZero's as being a quiet tire as White-Rush describes.

Thanks. Well the gmax is on national back order, so I guess that's out for now as far as my timeline goes. I'm surprised to hear this about the Kumhos because they have pretty high ratings for noise, all better than the PZero. Interesting. Anyone else?

...also, is it true that directional tires inherently have more road noise as well as large tread blocks?

I had the Pzero Nero M/S on my BMW M3 for about 20,00 miles. They were a very long wearing tire with good, not great grip. Very good in the wet and good in light snow. They did tend to tramline a little, but were very quiet. If you get tires heavily discounted make sure you check the date code on them. Many internet tire dealers sell tires that are past their 2 year shelf life recommended by the manufacturer. You can Google this debate, but I think it is important on a performance vehicle like the M.

Good luck.

BTW- for brake replacement check out R1concepts.com Very high quality stuff.

OK, I'm down to
1/ Kumho Ecsta 4X or leaninf towards Pirelli PZero Nero All Season
2/ R1 Concepts (Eline Cross-Drilled)...if they are drilled right, I'll give them a call.
3/ Pads now I don't know about. I'm leaning away from ceramics.
4/ Also what caliper paint brand is the best...I know that is subjective. Really I want one that I don't have to by five cans for. I liked G2, but the price vs size is crazy, and I don't want a spray can. I was looking at http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-uret ... 4AodIjnz_g . Any input on this or other recomendations?

Yes! :yesnod

This is very important. When I buy tires (particularly over the phone for example), I always ask the person to read me the date codes that they are going ship to me.

The last two times I bought from Discount Tire (not an Internet sale), I asked to see the tires before they put them on. All eight of them have been 3 to 6 months old ... perfect! :)

Great, I finally settle on the Pirelli to find out they are out of stock for 4-6 weeks everywhere and it will be the last batch. and now I'm not 100% on my second choice.

Can anyone offer any insight on the Posi Quiet Extended wear pads? I believe they are Centric. I am NOT interested in Hawk.
