Quick question. I have an S13 and it's going to be as low as possible (I have HE's in the mail). I'm planning on buying a set of volks, 17x8 front, 17x9 rear. From what i've seen, I'm planning on a +31-32 offset front and +31 or +35 rear. This sound good? My concern is this picture: http://www.worldwidechang.com/...3.JPG. That's a 17x8 +38 on the front, looks a little close to me, will a +32 clear the springs?

My main question is tire choice. I want to run 235/40's on the back and 225/40's on the front. the only problem is that I've only found one tire in that 225/40 size, a Nitto. so I may have to run 45's. I'm not concerned with maximum tire I can fit, I like the way this car sits: http://www.streetracing.org/bo...64635 . It's got 235/40's on the back, not sure on the front.

any comments/ sugestions? The car is going to be 99% street with maybe an autocross occasionally. thanks

Also, I've got four almost new 215/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sports, could I use these on the front 8" rims or are they too thin?

what part of the country do you live in? you need to find a very reputable tire shop(not some old dirty run down shack), and talk to an experienced professional about the nuances of the package you want. believe it or not, almost always it comes down to "lets mount one and see if it fits". it sounds like this is what you need to do. go see a qualified tire guy and he can answer all of these questions.

Unfortunately, that's not very common here in MD. It's hard enough to find a place that can do a proper alignment and wheel balance. I'm not even aware of any places around here that sell volks. I wouldn't trust most places around here with my honda, let alone fitting 9" wheels to a 240sx. I'm probably gonna order them from wheeloptions or upgrade motoring. I'd try to measure and estimate myself, but I can't put the coilovers on until I get the car running (which won't be for a month or two) because it's not inspected or registered yet. I need to keep it as stock as possible for now. It's gonna be hard enough getting it to pass with the RB25DET. :D

1. the front 17x8 31 or 32mm offset will NOT clear coilovers, look into a 17x7.5(in that same offset range, 30mm or so), its plenty wide for up to a 235 width tire.2. consider going with a 225-45-17 front and a 245 or 255-40-17 rear, that was the overall diamters from front to back are close, and your drive wheels get a good solid contact patch for that RB25. Try running a 33mm offset in a 17x8 or 8.5" rear.that setup should clear coilovers.

if you want to use the 215-45-17 pilot sports, you can run those front and a 235-40-17 rear, or 245-40-17 rear...that would work fine, also.-chet
