I have a 1990 240sx, I need wheels ive decided on the ever so popular 5 zigen fn01r-c. Only thing is the 16" are on back order for 2 months they only have 17".(please spare me your flames stupid question comming) Would 17" lose performance over 16"? And what would the best tire size setup for handling? Ive searched but didnt really find a clear answer.

I think the 16" wheels are around 11.7 lbs and the 17" wheels are around 14.6. I suppose that comparatively you would be adding more weight to each corner and would therefore "lose performance" but the reality is that you wouldnt be losing much. A 14lb wheel is lighter than the stock wheel anyways. I guess if the three pounds are a big deal to you, then wait on it. For me, if I could afford those wheels, I would go for the 17" wheel all the way. I asked a similar question before, and someone replied that a high performance tire is heavy anyways so you shouldnt worry too much about a 3 pound difference unless you are a hardcore racer and need every little bit of performance you can get.

The tire sticky made by exar-kun has some good information on it. The size of your tire is going to depend on the width of the wheel you are going to buy.
