Hey guys I have been MIA for awhile now as I have been working in Canada for the last 3 years or so, and opted to keep my Z stored at my parents house in the US rather than deal with it here. I'm going to be moving back to the states soon (most likely Houston) and want to do something with my Z would have been unheard of 5 years ago... DD. I've kept my car sitting in a garage for years seemingly saving it for someone else to drive, and I just want to log some miles on it and enjoy it more myself.
To prepare the car to DD, I was thinking of getting some new shoes. I currently have a 30 profile on the rear and a 35 on the front with a huge (and too flashy IMO) 19" wheel. I'd like to pick something up that attracts less attention, could take more of a beating on the houston roads (maybe with a 40 profile?), and is cost effective. So maybe a conservative 18" setup.
I was thinking of getting some 350Z wheels (something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/350Z-18-inch-wh ... VV&vxp=mtr) and then powder coating them dark grey/black and running something like a 40/235 in the front at a 40/255 in the rear on the 8.0" front and 8.5" rears. Questions on this setup that I have that can't seem to find the answers to... are those the right tire sizes with those wheels? what should I be paying for a set in good/great condition? $1100 asking with tires seems okay, but the tires are s*** and need replaced. Also, do you guys feel that I would be able to pickup the slightly larger 12.75" 350z front brake rotors/stock caliper adapters and have them fit with this setup? That was a side project I wanted to do, but never got around to it.
Last... I am a fan of a nice staggered setup with some steamrollers in the back. The 350Z wheel setup doesn't really allow for a a steamroller outback with maybe a 255 at the most on a 8.5" wheel. Is there a different setup that someone would recommend that would meet the criteria (cost-effective, non-flashy, and 350z rotor fit w/adapters ) that would have maybe a 9.5-10.5 out back that could hoist up a 275 or 285? I don't want to deal with rolling the fenders so please keep that in mind.
Thanks for the feedback.
