I probably can't afford it and I shouldn't buy it, but I'm getting the Legendary. I can't bring myself to buy anything less than the best for this game. Really wish you could wear the helmet though.

I'm too poor and uninterested in Halo back story to want anything other than the regular edition...

I expect I'll trade it back in once I'm finished with it, as I did with Halo 2, so there's no point in paying for the legendary edition.

I'll snag the limited edition.

I have a Legendary prepaid for me, and a Limited Edition for my wife. So we can kill each other on live.

^^^lol that is the best marriage conseling money can buy.

I am getting the Limited Edition. I can't justify the big price tag for the Lengendary Edition.

Also, I think that this part of the forum is the only one that can actually have a poll and not be immature about it. Kind of funny when you think about it since we are part of the GAMING forum which is mostly associated with 10 year old kid.s

So...I got bored yesterday and started reading up on Halo 3 (haven't followed it very closely at all). I have to say...my hopes for an improvement are melting away fast. No, I'm not here to bash on Halo yet again. I'm just here to say to a few things.

Like, first of all, why doesn't Halo3 pick up where 2 left off?And why are they using graphic novels to fill in the empty space? And why aren't all the graphic novels already released in time to be read before you pick up Halo 3 so you can know what the smegging hell is going on?

I understand that novels (graphical or otherwise) can be a great way to tell what there's no room for in a game. But there's NO reason that the time between Halo 2 and 3 can't be in the game. It seems like moneygrubbing to me.

Even moneygrubbing is understandable. But the fact that you can't even read the in-between storyline until some time AFTER you get Halo 3 seems pretty stupid to me. Wouldn't it make sense to know what's going on?

Furthermore, coming back later on in Halo 3 means there's no justification for the crap cliffhanger that ended Halo 2. No justification, and no point. What happened to the adrenaline-filled "Sir, I'm finishing this fight."???????? I guess they just forgot about it? Or...? So instead of picking up on that pumped-up note, we just skip to some sort of x weeks later (or however long) and continue............?

Terrible.

You'd never see this kind of crap from Laidlaw.

Minister- Where did you read this? In all honesty I thought they were picking almost where they left off. Of course they might have a cut in the beginning of the game to fill in the empy spots which is what they usually do. Just wait there is less then 2 weeks left and after that all the 10 year olds disappear to Halo online and all the older people (us) disappear to play the campaign to see how the story ends. Less than 2 weeks remember that. lol

Bungie has been uber secretive about the storyline of 3. Where did you find out that it won't pick up where 2 left off?

Actually I don't remember where I read it. Just some random gaming site that came up in google results. They did link to an announcement saying that there would be a graphic novel serial to fill in the time between the two games (which is supposed to cover his trip back to earth aboard the Forerunner ship). It said the game picks up with his arrival on earth (which makes sense, as the achievements show that the first level is called "Landfall").

Well they could be talking about filling the time between the 1st and 2nd games. Even though it does start out on the Orbital Cannon. It is near earth at least, of course at this point I would not believe any gaming sites as the are going to be putting out a lot of crap for the next week and a half to try to get a few hits.

It'd been cooler if they would have made the helmet so you could wear it while playing.

Did you finish Halo 2? It ends with him arriving in orbit over earth.

I'm sorry but if you are not a Halo fan, why are you complaining so much? You shouldn't even asks questions.

You sure?I thought it ended right after he departed from the...alien...station...dealie.

That might be the strangest question anyone ever asked me."You're not a fan so don't comment." If I hadn't been sitting I would have stumbled backward.

Just because I'm not the typical myopic halo fanboi doesn't mean I don't still have a curious interest in Halo 3. I do despise aspects of the Halo series (the spectacular universal-scale overhyping, the shoddy development, the fact that the games were released unfinished, the fact that everyone worships what is in every respect an utterly mediocre game franchise as thought it were a gift from God himself, and the fact that what might have been a truly great game franchise was turned into a cash cow by the corporate embodiment of half-assedness itself) but that doesn't mean I've not been open-minded about the third game.

What good would game critics do anyone if they only commented on their favorite games?I might not get paid to do it, but I'm a game critic (and I'm better at it than 99% of the guys who DO get paid for it). I cannot help but say something when I see something outstanding--be it good or bad.

Aside from all that, isn't it refreshing to have someone do something other than drop to their knees and grovel at the mention of Halo?

You should like me someone that is very skeptical about some game franchises and while priding myself on being at least a decent game critic. Anyway I am looking forward to this game mainly because I want to see how it ends. I will have a review up shortly after the game comes out if anyone wants to read it.

Positive. Admiral Hood is in command of the UNSC fleet for the Earth Sector. In the end of the game he is aboard an orbital MAC Cannon over Earth asking the Master Chief "What are you doing here?." The only gap in the series is time it takes the Chief to get from that pod to earth and I have a feeling that this will even be in the opening cut scenes. Although I don't share your sentiments about the series it is refreshing to hear someone who isn't groveling at the feet of the series. Even though it's one of the greatest FPS's of all time and certainly the most organized online multiplayer game on this side of WoW.

I didn't say I don't follow Halo. I said I was late to the game in checking up on Halo 3's development (as I expected a lot of what I was commenting on to be "old news" to some of the big Halo fans we have on the boards).

We love you too. Anyway I am probably not going to be online (playing multiplayer) for the first couple of days. As me and some of my friends have heard some rumors about there being some unlockables in the campaign, so we are going to spend the first couple of days on that and see what happens. After that I will be happy to let you eat the barrel of my gun ( ).
