whats your take? 260z turbo v8 for a ca18det datsun 1200?

Here's my situation:
Having a baby soon and well I will need a car with 4 seats.

option one is get a cheap dd and leave the datsun 260z for weekend warrior (currently my dd)
Which means I cant really ever take the datsun with my wife and my kid Im not a fan of having a car that I cant take anywhere so im considering ditching it. whats the point of having a car if you cant drive it?

I built this car a while back and its a 74 260z with 302 mustang engine. Matched with 69mm turbo. Estimated at roughly 400whp. Quick lil bugger and so replacement must be equally fast or faster.
I built it with 2 person in mind lol and when i was a kid my dad always took me with my mom on his "project car" and loved it so I wanna be ready for the future to do the same.

which brings me to option 2.

sell the datsun and get a datsun 1200. swap a ca18det and mod it to 350-400whp.


Im sure someone out there has riden or driven both. or maybe even owned both.
How do you like the ca18det on a lighter car compare to s30 with turbo v8?



option 3 would be to source out a datsun 260z with 2+2, but that require luck finding one.

oh and im in california so 75 or older only.

why not a 4 door 510? maybe even a wagon? engine choices are endless either way

or an 810, or 810 wagon, the 810 came with the L6 so your emall block conversion would swap over nicely

I was thinking the same thing. 510 would be perfect for a swap. CA, KA, SR, VG...lots of choices. I would love to have a wagon.

Because they weight in the same as my datsun. I would much rather get another 260z with 2+2 than a 510.

But after my turbo v8 swap I'm stepping away from s30 all together or 510. I would much rather get an rx7 2+2 much better base. Just IMO

Main reason I consider the datsun 1200 cuz it only weight 1600lbs.
So I can have a mild engine and still be fast as hell
