Driving...#1: Learning to Fly... (back country road, clear blue sky, long strait-away with smooth hills, driving to the beach with the people you love... mmmmhmmm) #2: 99 Red Balloons (GT3 inspired)#3: (tied) Smooth Operator (Top Gear episode Audi vs BMW) or recently "Jumping Jack Flash" (vette commercial)

Drifting..#1: Right Now (KoRn)#2: Bi*** or Die MotherF***er (both by Dope)#3: Duality (Slipknot) or Murder is Masterbation (Nothingface)

on the lighter side:#4: Letters to You (Finch, saw a RC drifting video and loved it)...yea I have a very diverse range in musical taste, and a very spontainious personality

and for when we roll... "Pimping" the streets:#1: Escape (Vowl Movements)#2: Guerilla Nasty (Guerilla Black)#3: Breathe (Prodigy) or (anything by Crystal Method)

I <3 Music

Thrwnsprkz: Learning to Fly...Tom Petty or Pink Floyd? Both did a song with that title. Both are high up on my list.

I don't have an order, but any Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd or Lynrd Skynrd is great for driving. I also listen to a lot of Korn while driving.

Learning to Fly, Running Down a Dream, Mary Jane's Last Dance, Refugee, Makin' Some Noise, Mind with a Heart of it's Own, Love is a Long Road. All good Tom Petty driving songs.

Zeppelin: pretty much anything, but especially The Immigrant Song, When the Levee Breaks, Over the Hills and Far Away, Ramble On, Stairway to Heaven (of course), Black Dog, Kashmir, Rock and Roll (Cadillac's ad campaign with that song was pure genius). But again...almost any Zeppelin works.

Deep Purple: Smoke on The Water...oh yeah! Child in Time (if you don't know which song that is...go watch "Twister." The song that the insane dude plays in the school bus during the driving scene where they all have music on...that's a very small part of Child in Time), Space Truckin', Highway Star (one of the greatest driving songs EVER, I have always wanted to see Nissan do an ad campaign using this song. Check out the lyrics and you'll see why). Lots of others as well, but I don't feel like listing them all.

One I forgot to mention at the top: Jethro Tull. Cross Eyed Mary, Locomotive Breath. Tons of good Jethro Tull for driving.

I could go on and on...but I won't.

Driving in general I like some lighter House. It's like the Best Motoring background music. I feel like Manabu Orido or something, only not even remotely as cool. I also like trip-hop wierdness, like DJ Krush.

As for driving hard/drifting/acting an ***, I move around between:

-D&B/Jungle like Dara, Dilinjer, Marky, Craze-Cheeseball trance that my roommate spins (sometimes good stuff too, i.e. Ferry Corsten)-Jpop/soundtracks, like Hika-chan, kyoko fukada, and yes, even Initial D soundtracks.

My car stereo sux, so I don't listen to much Jazz, classical, rock, or anything else that requires real fidelity in the car. The B&Ws at home have spoiled me until I can get REALLY good car speakers, like Focals or something.

There are a few songs, and when they come on, I drive harder. One of them is not my fault, because I was playing gran turismo before I ever was into performance...the cardigans- favorite game

another corny one, for those in the F&F know, saliva- super star.

aside from that I listen to a lot of techno, and there is one song... I only know it as its mp3 label on my computer (track 6) but man, it makes me want to fly out of my skin.

Commuting and jammed in traffic -- its hard to beat "Feel Like Makin Love" by Bad Company.Rage Against The MachineMichael JacksonCoolio (Hey! Remember him?)

Across the country, anything upbeat will do..."The Sign" by Ace of Base"Noma numa yei" by O-Zone"Start the Commotion" by The WiseguysGreendaySoundgardenAudioslaveCCRNeil DiamondMichael JacksonAnd and all country music is good for distance-driving too.

Song? Hmm... lately it's been

Muse- "Hysteria"Incubus - "Follow" and "Pantomime"Thursday - Lots of songs, mostly from War All The Time - "For The Workforce, Drowning" "Steps Ascending" "Marches And Maneuvers" "Asleep In The Chapel" "Understanding In A Car Crash" "This Side Of Brightness"

Finch has some good stuff for that.... ummm... "What It Is To Burn" "Ender" "New Beginnings"Audioslave - "What You Are" "Set It Off" a few others

Old school-Lynyrd Skynyrd- "Free Bird"ZZ Top - "Tush" and some others too

A lot of The Matrix soundtrack is really good... there's countless other songs that get me going.. Blur- "Song 2" Nine Inch Nails - "Slipping Away" and "Star****ers Inc." and of course Marilyn Manson (esp. the Slip Knot collaboration version) - "The Fight Song"

I'll stop there... looking at that list, I'm one messed up kid, that's awesome.

boy sets fire: rookie

bad religion: los angeles is burning, the empire strikes first, beyond electric dreams (i like their latest cd best)

AFI: anything from either black sails in the sunset or the art of drowning

coheed and cambria: anything

at the drive in: pattern against user, one armed scissor

thrice: anything

rise against: anything

turbonegro: anything

modest mouse for late night highway cruising works pretty good

My uncle (sort of... it's just easier that way) would blast opera in his porsche when he was driving hard. It felt like re-living the driving scenes from the GTA: 3/Vice City commercials.
