Mine were the same way. I decided to try them again though, and they of course didn't thread right, but I torqued them down anyway, and stripped the bolts AND the crank threads... ::sigh:: some days I think I exist purely to provide an example of what NOT to do.float_6969 wrote:I've seen stretched bolts too. when I put my motor together the first time I accidentally looked at the wrong torque specs and over torqued them. When I pulled them out they were VISUALLY strechted. It was pretty crazy.
Just send it to me dude and I'll get it taken care of for you. Most of the guys are pretty correct about the flywhell bolts being stretched. I'll admit, I've never ever changed any of my bolts in the last 8 years, but they are starting to round-off so I'm in the process of ordering some as we speak. Sorry you are having issues with your car, but hopefully some new flywheel bolts will square that issue away.nismoplsr wrote:well i finally got around to going out in the cold and wet to drop the transmission.
Get it out and notice on the pressure plate that one of the clips that holds the diaphragm on the plate is missing. So ill need for it to be repaired or something Dee.
take the plate and disc off and 3 of the flywheel bolts were taken off my hand and then 3 more by wrench and 2 that are only a few threads loosened will not come out any farther.
What do i do with the two that are stuck?
i also came up with a good idea to keep the bolts from looseneing up again. Just like what nissan used to keep the turbo to exhaust manifold bolts on. I might make up a sheet metal ring with tabs the fold up on each flywheel bolt.
