im going to say its fuel related, when you miss third do your rpms shoot up? try driving..somewhere safe where you wont get hit, no traffic or cars around..and instead of going to 3rd or 2nd go to neutral and rev where u usually do when you miss 3rd and see if it cuts off on u. There are 3 things you need for an engine to run. 1. Air(compression) 2. Fuel 3. Fire(spark) Since you are running, if it was a vacuum leak, you would know in the fluctuating idle, if you were not getting spark in all cylinders, you would feel it as well and it wont perform like it should. If you run out of fuel..it will die. Im not that knowlegable on this so if someone knows a lot about the fuel system feel free to correct me if im wrong and chime in on this one! Good luck man, I think its fuel, but I dont know how to fix it. lol

It looks like you're running out of fuel at those high Rs. Connect a temporary fuel pressure gauge and take the car out on the road to measure the fuel pressure when you rev the motor up to the higher RPMs.
