KA24DE(92), 150k : Did a compression test and it has 175psi on all 4. Blows out blue smoke occasionally; when I rev it up right after an oil change, or when i'm getting out of first(while riding the clutch a little). Are my rings going bad? If so, y am I getting 175psi on all 4s? What other things should i check? I've changed plugs and they all seem fine. Thanx in advance

I had the same problem with my 89 240. Someone told me that that motor had 50 miles left on it before it died. I did a SR20DET swap and its awesome...

I checked my plugs and they are perfectly normal(new NGK plugs). I did a search and i guess most people would assume it be the rings and valve guides...??? I'm not going through oil THAT fast, but it's definitely less then 4 qts when i do my oil change. I bought the car last summer and it wuz decent condition. I did an oil change right after i bought it and found out it had less than a qt of oil in there. It was after this oil change that i noticed the blue smoke. If it is the rings or valve guides, is there any technique that can reduce the oil burning a little? I've been using that engine restorer crap and used the seafoam method. Doesn't seem to help that much. My motor is in excellent condition for it having 150k+ miles on it, just the oil burning that's weird. Thanx

hmmm...it certainly is weird. You should expect 1 qrt loss btwn oil changes, but you have excellent compression. Maybe you are using crappy oil that burns faster/easier (no offense)?

it's crappy...maybe crappy enough? I'd try and switch over to syn. if I were you, but I'd inspect leaks from under the car before pouring the precious liquid...
