It started a couple of months ago when my car was having trouble starting, then one day i was driving my 1993 nissan 240sx se hatchback when it started missing and backfiring then turned off for good, i have replaced the distributor, cap and rotor, mass air, plugs, wires, and tested both battery and starter. All it does is crank but wont turn over and i can smell the fuel going in. i truly have no idea what the problem is , any suggestions?

does it sound like its choking? pull you valve cover off and check your timing chain. KA's are known for eating them.

it most likely jumped a tooth or 2 if you checked everything else already and also check compression for good measure

If the timing chain did jump it is a "fix it now" problem not a "when you get the chance" problem

pull out a plug stick it back in the plug wire lay it agains the valve cover have someone else crank it over .. you shouid see spark .. if u dont start with a coil they tend to go bad when they are hott (when your driving ) .. they do exactly what u decribed when they go bad .. if the coil dosnt fix it try an ignition module ..

that engine is a ka24de right? well i have a ka24e and it broke the key on the cam witch caused the gear to rotate on the shaft but not come off and everything still lined up for timing. it took a really long time for me to find it so u may try looking at this yourself. this is a not start issue right?

thank you for all of your help the car finally turned on and sounds just fine. after all said and done i believe the distributor went out but it was the timing and fuel that wouldnt let the car start. the fuel was bad, so i put fresh gas with sta-bil(additive) and the car turned right on afterwards. once again i thank you for your help.
