Hey guys, I just got my CA18det in and it was running perfectly at first, but all of a sudden the car started to bog a little bit everytime I pushed the gas pedaland the car is much louder nowI was told to change the spark plugs, which i did but it still happensI've noticed now that when im gassing it, my a/f gauge tells me that my car isnt running rich which it is supposed to be correct?so my diagnosis is that its the fuel pump..can any of you guys confirm that so that i can have some peace of mindThanks

Check for vacuum leaks.

With the car running, spray some brake cleaner on all the vacuum hoses and charge piping. If the idle improves, there is your vacuum leak.

I had a similar problem with the a/f gauge, and it was the gasket between the exhaust manifold and the turbo, it was leaking, which gave my a/f gauge invalid reading.

That would also cause it to sound lounder when you push the gas.

yeah my NA car had the same thing, it feels like a gradual power loss. Initially it was just a little bogging down but as it blew more of the gasket out between manifold and head, it eventually barely had power to get out of its own way.Mine was making WAY loud engine noises and whistled a little too.

DUDE I just thought of something, when you say "turbo noise" I just realized my brother's turbo sounds like whistling, so you are probably talking about a high pitched whistling sound... well some of it may be turbo but I imagine its mostly the sound of the air pushing past that gasket...wow.I feel cool. If thats right anyway.

Go the NISSAN dealer and ask them to get you the studs of a 300zx twinturbo (1990-1996), they are the same
