Now, I know some folks ask, and make some pretty stupid comments. But whats with all the haters? I mean damn, this is supposed to be a community of car lovers, but I guess some ***holes always have a way of sneaking in...Sometimes I feel like I am talking to a bunch of 16 year olds on these forums (not just NICO)...

Now haters, don't be shy, tell us why you hate?

Better not be any flaming, on newbies or otherwise - good way to get a "vacation".

This ain't FA, people - We didn't get this big by being nasty to new folks.

Now, this doesn't mean we can't clown someone from time to time - After all, that's fun. But let's not let it get hateful.

Keep it civil, and if you can't stand new people asking questions, remember that none of you popped out of the womb with an intimate knowledge of the automobile.

p.s. I know I've said it before but SoCal, your car is SOOOO damn sweet.

There is no room for hating here...

But, you gotta take some flack if you ask stupid questions...

we all can't be lovey dovey all the time...

but that does not mean you can start calling people names and stuff..

you know if you can flame without the personal coments and insults then it's all good in my book...

We are getting a bit off topic, I know people ask stupid questions, I just can't handle name calling....like:

"your ingnorant" "pusssy""moron..."

etc...

If someone is giving you a hard time thats one thing, but whats up with the tough guy act?

I've been a member here for about few months and i havent seen any hating...

I've seen criticism (some harsher than necessary) but I havent noticed any name calling or just being plain nasty...

I agree that some other forums have those people but that's because1. mods are not doing what they are supposed to2. immature people are not getting taught...

I don't see the above two happening here in NICO

Nico is pretty much the only car forum I frequent, and so far, beside a few bad seeds, haven't really seen many haters. There are a couple immature people, but besides the fact everytime a newbie (much like myself) asks a question, everyone immediately says "use blinking button on top right, has been talked about to death, etc" Well, first, a newbie might not know about the search button, and second I've tried using the Search button, but since it gives like a million or no finds it's a bit difficult to find exactly what you need. So, often it's easier to just ask. Oh, the reason I'm such a h8r is because I'm Korean, I like rice, so fark all you GheyDM people! ;p

LOL - Good stuff...

Let's not get into hacking on other sites, because, as far as I'm concerned, NICO is the only one that matters (I'm biased).

If there's something on another site that you like BETTER, please feel free to let me (or another Admin) know - We will discuss it, and if it's something that a lot of people bring to our attention, we'll do our best to implement it.

We have more room, more bandwidth, more talent and more resources that they do, so it's wide open. The only things we DON'T have a surplus of is $ and volunteers.

p.s. Also, keep in mind that if no one asked questions, pretty soon this would just be a library. All questions have been asked before, you'd have to go "look it up". Thats no fun.

I agree, even do is not everybody, there is a "click" of individuals that like to put people down for "stupid questions".... If you dont like the posting, dont answer, keep going and check others. Everybody deserves respect, regardless of age,education,etc...There is serious people out there looking for serious help. I also agree with AZ Hitman, this is probably one of the most friendly groups. SoCalS14, I found that if you really need help and want to skip the flaming, go to the Nissan mechanic online section, you will get friendly answers and zero bull......

If you don't know the answer to a question, don't post. There are no need to flame for a bad question. There are no stupid questions, only stupid people. And those stupid people are usually the ones doing the flaming around here. Many times, a member wont know the answer to another's question so they tell them to search and then proceed to flame. Answer the question, it's easier.

I have to admit, I have let a few zingers fly, but I have always done so in the defense of another member. The problem is that there is only a half full sensation of justice when a bully gets shot down. Giving them a taste of their own medicine only lets the problem increase. My greatest satisfaction is the sense of community that is established when members collectively recognize and approach a troll about his posting... you know, the common enemy thing.

NICO has been great to me; there is a VERY short list of members names that I avoid or ignore wheneve possible. I guess what is key is the mentality that we all have been, and in many ways, still are, newbies.

K240, there is nothing wrong with being a 16-year-old, per se, so no worries. But, as we get older we look back on our collective youth and find out that we were idiots all along. The number 16 is arbitrary, just a reference point for older guys to remember what it was like.

AZHitman, let me know of anything I can do to help. The budget is tight, but I'm pretty handy with a lot of popular web design and graphics software, and whether or not you believe it, I in fact DO have a relative mastery of the language.

The rx7 forums the big one ( w/like 17k+ members ) is baptized as the evil forum.

Now teamfc3s.org/forum is a friendly forum...Everyone is nice there..(probably due to the ratio of "old men" in it.)

hmmm.....ZILVIA has a few losers that live to flame (basically a forum with a high school mentality). FreshAlloy has a few more intellectuals (or at least they THINK they are smart haha) and flame with a certain SNOB flavor haha

NICO is...ahem...actually pretty cool with the new setup and all..

Nico rocks, I don't know about any other car forums with GBs and discounts, but Chris (underground) offers some crazy nice discounts too. I just wish I knew about these things before I went ahead and bought my stuff at *gasp* retail price. We should make this "insider" information more readily available, because I'm sure not everyone here is rich.

I really haven't noticed any flaming since Greg took over. Definitely one of the more "user friendly" forums. I hardly ever go to the other forums unless it is http://az240sx.org just because that is where the local AZ 240 scene is and the people there kick ***.

For the newbs just remember the old saying, "measure twice cut once." Think about what you are going to say a few times in your head before you type or say it. Ok I am done now. *steps off soap box*

Keep up the good work Greg.

Thanks Ollie - Appreciate the knid words.

These guys do a pretty good job of policing themselves, which makes the moderators' jobs a lot easier.

I appreciate you guys looking out for the rookies. Great work!

Basically, how the hating begins is when someone just gets their car and then comes on here and asks where they can get a SR20DET or how to increase some horsepower to their car. With them being an inexperienced driver, the people who reply tell him to get used to their car first before any, "MODS". Then when the questioner tells them that they are a expereineced driver already and ready to swap in some goodies. THats when the flaming begins.
