I have a altima coupe 2.5 super black. and everytime it rains or if i just spray it off with the water hose the water just beeds up and doesnt run off. and leaves water spots real bad. some of them even look discolored, and i cant get alot of it off unless i scrubs every little spot with a rag, but then it leave tiny scratches. its like its got into the paint somehow. i can wash the hell out of it and scrub and scrub and it looks good when wet. but when i take it down the road to dry it off or dry it off with a towel , it still looks dirty. it has never done that to any of my other cars...anyone else have this problem or know what to do to fix it?

It could be a combination of really hard water & needing better drying towels along with a good polish/wax.

I'd try a good cleaner wax, and if that still doesn't work, a clay-bar then wax. Haven't heard of anyone else having this problem...

Is there a coat of wax on your car? If not, than that is why. Should be done multiple times a year.

What are you using and what is your method of application?

Meguiars Cleaner Wax from wal-mart. And i just rub the wax on, wait for it to dry, then buff it off with shirt or one of those buffing rags(dont know the actual name of the material).

For a black car I'd recommend the following products.

Apply Meguires #7 Glaze

Do entire car. Applying with a dedicated application pad (by dedicated I mean use it for that only purpose). Use a microfiber cloth to buff it off. Use a DIFFERENT microfiber cloth for the final wipe. Be sure to do small sections at a time. Do not apply to entire car at once.

Followed by a coat of Meguires #26 Carnauba Wax. Use the same method of application as stated above.

Detailing is a hobby of mine. I've tried almost everything on the market.

Also. When you wash any of your detailing towels of cloths, DONT use a fabric softener. It interferes with the effectiveness on the paint.

Good god. That is exactly why your having trouble. NEVER wash your car with a dish washing detergent unless your prepping for a coat of wax. Companies like Zaino recommend using it to strip your car for a new coat of wax. Dawn dissolves any coat of wax on your car as well as any sealant. Brings it right down to the bone. Get a new coat of wax on there with the instructions that I gave you above. Do it immediately!

Can u wax without removing the old coat. I wash my car then wax. I don't remove the old wax though. I only wash the outside thoroughly. Is that ok?

You certainly can. Stripping your finish of wax is only done under circumstances where a wax has never been done or if it hasn't done one in quite sometime (typically when using a "cleaner wax" or with oxidation). Its when you want to start "fresh". Its not bad to have multiple coats of wax. Its a good thing!
