k, so I purchased a 90 Coupe last Sunday. (you might have seen the pics) no rust, 90k miles, clutch replaced, dist replaced, slave cylinder replaced, etc. car runs great. it needs a new cat, but i'm not really worried about it. so here's my problem:

when i make left turns and slide my back end out it rotates just fine. when i make right turns i get all sorts of hoppage (if thats even a word). if i kick the back end out on a right turn it's just brutal, i guess the wheels are hopping, and it just doesn't slide like it does on the left turns. I checked the tire pressures today (cause i havent even had time since i bought it) i filled all of the tires up to 32 (because some were pretty low) but the situation is still the same. left turns = butter, right turns = yuck.

anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong?

thanks,Ben

if you have an SE check the rear anti-roll bar under the car in the back. It's a shot in the dark but check to see if its bolted up correctly and all. It could also have something to do with your axle.

hmm, im hoping it's not a shock... are there cheap non-adjustable shocks that would pair up well with the tein type S springs? i wanted to just do springs like i have on my lude, but i guess i should do it right from the start.

D1SR240: yeah i'm from the vernon hills, libertyville, mundelein area (bout 30 mins away) you aren't swapped are you? i know a guy on another board from naperville with the swap, hes comin down to my school this weekend.

that would be my guess, blown passenger rear shock.

i had the same problem but both my shocks were blown, so it made that noise anytime i turned.

it doesn't really make a noise, and the shocks seem to rebound fine after going over bumps, or pushing down on the car...

i'll try to diagnose the problme further tomorrow

i know exactly what you're talkin about... a friend of mine had the same problem, and when i drove his car there is definitely 'hoppage' on right turns. we never did figure it out, but a few weeks later he got a 1.5 way lsd and it just went away... dunno what that could mean??

well it would make sense if the same wheel gets the majority of the power reguardless of which way i'm turning. i didn't think this was a problem with an open diff... can any expertish people confirm this or not? i mean in a straight line you might always get the same wheel that spins if you were say to do a burn out, but the power should shift accordingly depending on which way you are turning... i actually drove a 90 fastback SE over the summer, and it never had this problem. none of the 89-90's came wth LSD's did they?

You have owned your car for 5 days and you are already "drifting" it?

KYB GR2's a full set is like 250.

I used to kick it in my Ranger, and the diff was very open...I sometimes think that the left wheel wasn't even connected to the driveshaft. But that wheel would always hop so it could be that.

Dude you're not too far from me. I live by midway, like 63rd and Harlem. I go out to Orland sometimes when one of my friends drags me along to the mall *shudder*. What color is your car?
