my names zach, i got a sil-eighty s13 with a sr20det. Motor is frankenstein'd from a s15 bottom end and s13 valvetrain, the car has a srt4 intercoolerintergrated behind the silvia grill and headlights but fully functional, and the car is currently on a stock t25 at 13psi. I've owned two honda crx's which i did a ITR swap and LS swap on, got tired of my roommate always being faster in his sr so i got a s14 to do a ka-t. After constantly repairing the ka it went out, i wont own another ka motor. Fixed it and cleaned it up then traded it for the s13 which i own now. Car has a bunch of tiny bolt ons. I plan to build the head and upgrade to a gt2860 later. I will post pics later :)

Funny, because that's what happens with SRs too. You'll learn.

Um, aside from the cylinder head and block material, they're not really all that different. :)

2.0 vs 2.4

OP, I'm just trying to figure why you say you won't own another KA. :gotme Is it simply because you had a troublesome experience and are now just gun-shy of it? Just curious, as the KA24DE is a very stout engine with a longer stroke to start. I am assuming you had a DE because you state it was from an S14. :poke:

Yeah it was a ka24de. And i understand the potential behind the ka, me and my roommate are actually lookin into doing a low boost t25 ka-t build in his other car. I dont hate the ka cause of a troublesome experience, im personally not a huge fan of the motor.

I forgot to mention that the cylinder head and block material are both inferior to the KA... lol

So you understand the KA's potential but yet I'm still left begging the question as to why you're not a fan. Maybe it's just me, and it might be, but over the years I've heard too many state the same in lieu of actual performance experience. That's why I asked in lesser terms if it was just from an isolated incident with a troublesome KA.

:chuckle: ... Yeah, but in all seriousness everybody has their own feelings about why one vs. the other and so forth and so on. I just like to hear more detailed explanations to rationalize the bias toward one or the other. I could understand having more experience with high-performance NA V8's, but in reality - an SR is just another 4 cylinder like the KA.

Oh i feel ya Scotster. I just like to poke fun. I mean if you think about it they are all internal combustion gas engines, wether it be 4 or 8 cylinders. They all work off the same basic principles. IMHO the KA has more to offer performance wise, but its that stock turbo that is appealing for most guys when it comes to the SR. That and im really starting to think they just like to SR comming out of there mouth all the time. LOL.

Like im gonna start adding in every post that i have a Supra. Just cuz i love typing it LMAO. J/K!

See, I can tell you right now my SR is nothing but trouble too, but then again, so was my KA...

I personally liked the VG in my S12 out lf all the motors I've owned, but it was just because it required nothing in maintenance, ever!
