whats this sensor/ controller

i have no idea what this knob does i tested it by twisting it one way and it did nothin and then the other way no boost control or oil. this is off a 96 s13 180sx clip dont know what it does?

Its the boost control solenoid that is removed during our US sr swaps. It comes on all S13 SR's attached to the igniter chip. Usually we remove it altogether in order to get rid of the vac hoses connected to it.

It still doesnt change the boost at all though i've turned the knob all the way both ways and it didnt change boos at all.

It doesnt change boost. It detects it and sends a signal to the ECU that changes the way the engine runs very slightly.

It is not a knob I don't think. Just a little cap/hat for the purge valve.
