I got a CVC 23109(c) ticket. I was "doing doughnuts" in a parking lot (not that many). I already had my car impounded for 30 days, which I just got out. My court date is this thursday. I need everyone's help if possible. Thanks!

eesh... well make sure you call the court so they put you on the roster, show up early, talk to the prosecutor, talk to the cop if hes there, be polite, act humble and apologetic. you'll be offered the option of pleading guilty to a reduced charge. seriously consider accepting it. otherwise see if you can get a free legal consultation, make sure its free beforehand.

i hate court

yeah. well the cop won't be there unless i plead not guilty. What do you mean they'll offer me a option of pleading guilty? Like, I know there's the option for pleading guilty, or not guilty. I will say guilty. But if you're saying they can give me a reduced charge, how do I go about asking for that? Diferred judification?

in nevada....any parking lot that has public access will also have the same laws that apply to the street.....so doing doughnuts depending on what the cop wants to call it.....can be reckless, careless, exhibition of speed, yada yada yada.

i don't know what the CVC### ticket is but.....a buddy of mine was drifting in a parking lot with public access and the cop hit him with a reckless ticket....he plea bargained and had it reduced to failure to stop at a stop sign.

your best shot is go before the judge... plea no contest...at this time you may explain the situation before he gives sentence......... so express that you are sorry for being a stupid kid (they love hearing that) and say you wanted to try doing a donut and you wanted to be safe about it so you went to a parking lot and stayed off the street....then once again say your sorry that your a stupid kid and it won't happen again. keep us updated. good luck

it just means your not pleading one way or the other by mail, you'll be doing it in person. of course you'll have to cough up a court fee but if they downgrade the charge it could mean knocking off points which'll save you hundreds in insurance premiums or possibly a reduction of the fine. its basically a way for the court to expedite the process by rewarding people for their compliance. it saves them from going through the trouble of a more drawn out process if you plead not guilty, in which case without a lawyer or legitimate defense, they'll definitely screw you. its typically scheduled so the cop will be available either way.

at least thats how ive seen it work in NJ

yeah seriously. CVC 23109(c) is under the civic code for "Speed Contests". So this guy goes up before me, and the judge says "you're ticket is for Speed Contest, what do you plead?" Of course, not guilty, because he would've gone to jail if he was guilty. Funny I was next, and it's the same thing, but he read in his notes that I was "Burning your tires, make some smoke, ehh something ....like...that..." Those were his EXACT words. It was soo funny that they don't know what the hell I was doing (drifting). Yeah I got posted with the 300 dollar fine, and the two points. So better than going to jail, right? lol

Move out of Cali. Most cops around here applaud a good donut. Both kinds.

that may be true, but I'm a homebred so cal guy. Aside from the smog, the upredictable weather, and the earthquakes (that hardly happen enough to know one is happening) I love this place. You can't beat the hunnies at the beaches, the sun, the atmosphere.

the true question is what paking lot where you at and how are laws out there? i know in chicago there is one parking lot that i mess around a little and its on privet property. now in a case like this security has to call the pigs before the pigs can take any thing or do any thing. and the other thing is how high are you on 50 radar if you get in trouble a lot like street racing ect. there can be a chance that your license can be suspended. trust me on that take it easy on city property because they can be no joke. i was EXTREMELY LUCKY getting out of a $450 speeding ticket for neglegence driving. not fun getting shoved in the back of a scuad car.

what i've done with every ticket, no matter what it has been (including my DUI) is show up, and plead not guilty...they will then assign you a court date....show up early on your court date, and ask to speak to the prosecuting attorney (the officer should also be there, if he's not you already know you're good to go) tell the attorney your story, tell him anything you've done to fix your problem, or whatever...give a good reason, which includes just saying "i was feeling a little bored, and I just installed [insert performance part here] and wanted to see how well it worked. something like this should fly with him...

he will then dismiss you so he can confir with the officer, then he will call you back in and you can discuss the plea bargain.

i've taken every ticket i've ever gotten, no matter how guilty i was, and followed this method....everything's been reduced, or totally gotten rid of :D
