i really recommend finding shops that dont just put the motor in the car and start it up. There are things that need to be done to the motor so make sure if you talk to a shop that costs more that they can give you a good reason for costing more. Most people will do a bare bones swap for cheap. By bare bones I mean no exhaust, no fuel pump, no water pump,no ac, and no seals replaced and you still have to bring them a clutch or pay for theirs and even worse, no tuning. And you still dont really know where they are getting their motors...Ebay ?
If they leave off any of these things (with exception to the exhaust/downpipe) you would probably be happier in the end with a reputable shop that costs a little more and gives you a quality, running car.
You will be happier when you know you dont have to replace seals and pumps and get a higher performance clutch a few months after your swap
But on the brighter side, I dont live in Cali and dont know the quality of their work vs, what we put out in GA.
