im in socal so i know that i have plenty of options, but what would you say is a good price for everything; motor, ecu, turbo, a/c, p/s, both manifolds, transmission, maf, SMIC and harness...

i was hoping for 1500-1700... what do you think?

Shipping, I have no idea. I can only imagine that it won't be cheap. As for looking for one locally, maybe just keep an eye out for people trying to sell one in the classifieds or craigslist, etc.

But you're gonna have to search though.

Look around craigslist and check out local shops. I picked up a SR with plenty of goodies for a lot less than what I would have paid if I would have bought them separately. The wiring was already done, all I had to do was take out my KA and drop in the SR.

no more than 1000 dollars unless its already been rebuilt.

if u cant find one for less than 1000 dollars then buy a CA18DET.best bang for buck ur SX will ever get.

^^^ yeah i want to shop where you shop.look OP, if you want to actually do the s*** right, your going to spend more than what you had in mind.double your figure and youll have no problems having a fully rebuilt, slightly tweaked, reliable sr swapped car.if you got the cash, do it.if you dont, wait for it.

The reason i say no more than 1000 for an unknown mileage engine, is that you are going to be rebuilding anyway. IFs its a post rebuild engine then ofcourse it depends on the shop.

Also the SR is way to over priced JDM Tyte tax on the SR is ridiculous, i would never pay over 1200 for an SR, the CA a slightly lower powered engine and is way cheaper.Plus a lot of importers who arent trying too hard to be JDM Tyte will sell you unrebuilt engines for relativity good price....and rebuilding an engine shouldnt be seen as a chore, it should be seen a service to yourself and your car.

it may be an unkown mileage, between 40-60k, but in the US thats just breaking in... most engines shipped from a good shipper wont be hydrolocked or have bent valves... thats why there is a certain amount day warranty supplied by the shipper...

There are plenty of shops around here, and they'll range you from 1700+ local pick up. I mean wouldn't you like to inspect the engine you're actually buying in person so that way problems don't occur after you bring it home?
