Picked up a engine hoist tonight to pull a SR out of the car. I looked at a few "How to install a SR engine" but they do not go into detail on how to hook the chain to the engine. So my question is: Whats the proper way to attach the hoist chain to the head properly, and lift the engine/transmission up off the ground?Thanks.....

I you're facing the engine, there are a couple of empty bolt holes. The ones that I used were at the rear right, and front left of the head. Simply take a bolt of decent grade, and put a good size washer on the end so the head won't slip through the link and crash down. Obviously the bolt has to be of the same thread pitch as the hole. Slide the bolt through a link in the chain and thread into the holes, leaving an appropriate amount of slack above the head to hoist it out. The chain doesn't have to be bolted tight to the head, but make sure you have the bolt threaded in a decent depth(1/2"-3/4" allrox) Position clasp of hoist above the center of the head and put through link in chain. Lift out, maneuvering as needed. Not sure how to post pics, but I have a good one of my engine hoisted up right before I put it in.

Drain all fluids, un-hook battery, disconnect all connectors attatched to main harness, remove driveshaft, pull ac compressor and power pump to side if applicable while still attatched to all lines, un bolt trans mount and engine mount bolts, follw above above hoisting info...and do anything else I neglected to mention due to the potential legnth of my response.

I simply took off the heat shield and wraped a chain around the ex. manifold and another chain around the in. manifold. I connected the chains to a load leveler, I think thats how most people do it, heres what it should look like... http://www.nissanperformancema...240sr/
