My 2010 G37 is a weekend car (garage queen) it has just hit 3000 miles and its six months old. At 3 months I did an oil change and at six months tire rotation and an oil change.

I plan to change the oil evert 3 months and tire rotaion every other oil change and every 12 months do the service at 1 year the 15k service at 2 years the 30 k service etc..

What would be the harm if I just went by milage not time?

So if I go by time like Infiniti reccomends I would do the 15k service at 12 months even though I will only have like 6000 miles on the car??

I have a few opinions...

What is your daily driver? Why are you paying for a car you're not driving? That's like letting the next person get it, and it still be all fresh and new.

Have you ever bought a car from a old person and then drove it hard, or spirited? It tends to break quickly, and has a lot of parts that need to be replaced. Most of the parts are dry rotted from frequent unuse or a slimmed down usage (granny driving) of these parts. Typically stuff that breaks quickly could be caused by the car not seeing over 3k rpms for a long time.

You should service the car regularly. Over time detergents in your fluids break down and the motor needs to be refreshened. Keep the service up on the car, and when you take it out, do a small amount of spirited safe driving, and start the car every 3-4 days to keep the gas rejuvenated.

You can let a car sit for years on end, but if the oil isn't from a fresh change, then you will lock the motor up.

Sorry dude. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. It is your car and you can do what you like.

I have a 95 Z28 that is beyond garage king. I maybe put 200 miles a year on it. I change my oil once a year. I have had people tell me that even if the oil is just sitting in the crankcase, it will get contaminated by things like condensation. I know it is bad for a car to sit, but yours doesn't seem to be sitting too bad.

I still have the original brake fluid in my car and some of the hoses are original. When I do get my car out...he runs great. I need plugs now because the ones in it are ten years old.

I really don't know your long term plans for your G, but cars are really pretty resiliant (sp). I'm sure your G is a lot better quality than my Chevrolet....it should last you a long long time.

i brought a 42k (MSRP i didnt pay that) car to drive it...

but you still need to make sure that car is started more than once a week so fliulds flow and not sit in one place.

would you rather swim in a moving stream or still pond? which you think is most dirty?

Thanks everybody for the good points and info.

But my question is even if you have no where near the miles it needs for service I should still follow the service by time correct?

For example at 12 months if I have 6000 miles on it I should still do the 15k service right?

As far as things like cabin filter, tire rotation etc, I would go by mileage. Fluids I would go more by time.

I change my oil according to time as well...drive her everyday, but I work close ;)

I'd do it every 4 months with a filter change.

The general consensus seems that I should replace the fluids by time and the other items by milage.
When the car is 12 months old I estimate it will have about 6000 miles on it..
MY LAST AND FINAL QUESTION ON THIS TOPIC..SO AT 12 MONTHS I SHOULD JUST DO AN OIL CHANGE RIGHT INSTEAD OF THE 15K SERVICE RIGHT??
AT 24 MONTHS/30K WHAT FLUIDS SHOULD BE REPLACED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISION FLUID/ DIFFERENTIAL FLUID/ENGINE COOLANT FLUID AND DO YOU NEED TO REPLACE DRIVE BELTS AND RADIATOR CAP??
Sorry to bug just want to take the best care of my G but also want to save a little money by not doing unnecessary maitanence.
To reiterate my G is a weekend car/garage queen.
The car has just hit 3000 miles and it six months old.
At 3 months I did an oil change at six months I did an oil change and a tire rotation.

Personally, I would wait til 50k on the diff fluid, look at the belts at 40K......and I still have the original radiator cap at 71K on my G coupe and 107K on my daughters 00 Max.
Would also wait til close to 45K on the coolant.

If you are not sure then simply follow the Infiniti Service and Maint Guide as it lists by mileage or timeline.

Money seems to be no issue.

Here is my new plan I will change the oil every 3 months and will skip the 12 month 15k service since its only inspections and in cabin filter change I will just do an oil change at the 12 month interval since I will only have like 6000 miles on the car..but at 24 months regardless of miles I will do the premium service to ensure all fluids get replaced..
