Ok, I just got my car and am kinda frustrated with the quality of shiftin the auto and autostick modes have. Did they install sponges in the transmission so it wouldn't hurt anyones neck with the shifting?? My 4x4 shifts harder! I don't expect wheel chirps but a solid shift would b nice, especially when under hard accelleration. Anyone know of a fix or is my car just AFU?? or did some jackazz posssibly put in the wrong fluid??? PLEEZ HELPP!!

It is my understanding that if you get one of the grounding kits it will help a good deal with the shifts, search the fora and you will find quite a few people talking about the benifits of them.

EDIT:scroll about halfway down that page for the grounding kit

Also you could send your transmission valve bodies to stillen and they can do their thing. Basically a shift kit...

Welcome to NICO!!

+1 for the grounding Kit. A solid investment for the AT.

Is your VDC off when you "punch" it? If your VDC is on... that could be why you fel it's lagging.

I can make one for you!!!

Mine is about half finished. I studied the layout of 3 different kits and then modified a couple of the contact points to pull everything together.

I should have mine finished by this weekend. Email me if you're interested.

I have the grounding kit from GroundingGear. I will say it hardened up the shifts a little bit. But depending on where you shift in the RPMs given a certain acceleration, it'll still be soft...just a good shift that's all. But if you're under hard acceleration and shifting it does improve it. Another thing you have to remember is that this is a sports car with a little bit of luxury to it.

The 5AT was designed in 2002 by JATCO to be an economical soft smooth lux car transmission.......performance [quick shifts] were never considered until very recently.

OK, I get that its a "luxury" sports car.......but I can get a caddy or a lincoln to snap my neck when it shifts. Did they forget the nomenclature still has "sports car" in it? I was just wondering where to start with making the shifts harder. I was also wondering, if the cars are basically the same, could any of the parts from the Z be transplanted into the G? Like the transmission or the ecu......How hard would it be to trade the auto for a manual......hmmm???? Oh, and I am getting the grounding kit soon....just gotta figure how to translate it into "more MPG" for the wife Thanks for your help. OK, so I just bought the stillen set on sale.....will let you know how it goes when I get it on the car. Thanks for the heads-up on the sale!!
