The 6MT stands for 6-speed, manual transmission. My advice is to get the newest model you can afford. 03-04's are good, but have some issues with the radio/suspension. The 05-07 have the "REVUP" design. Finally, the 08 has the new 3.7 VQ engine, making about 30 more HP.

Look around the site, and do some searching for specific answers.

Welcome!

Oh Man another pony rider. What's wrong with you people?

Just joking. I don't know if anybody told you before but posting other then G here is strictly prohibited. If I were you I would take the picture off. Either they'll ban you from the site or you have to put some donation for the weekend drinkers account. Anywhere from 20 bucks and up.

What did I want to say.... oh yeah cheers

Just joking.

Welcome aboard.

I hope you enjoy your stay here. It's a good place with knowledgable people. Sometimes you have to wait awhile to get the answer you are looking for but you'll get it.

Rev-Up is when they tuned the engine a little more to get another 12 HP out of it.

I say go with a low mileage 03 - 04 the minor quirks are not worth the massive price difference between a 03 and a 05+

Kenrik has a good point. if it's a 6mt, just make sure it shifts smoothly while rpm's are up.

OH CRAP....zozo, I accidentally slipped and pasted....

Lunatic ...if you are going for the G35 and not the new G37 then ask yourself a couple questions. First do you want the brembo sport package ? If that answer is yes then you'll be better off price wise looking for an 03-04 that has that option already installed, in later years Infiniti did away with the Brembo package for cost reasons and complaints from your average driver that the pads wore out too quickly. Second question...Do you want more top end power or low end off the line take off ? Depending on the answer to that might also direct you in a given direction...the 03-04 has more torque and less horsepower than the 05-06 model. So the older G35 Coupes are potentially quicker out of the hole/ in the quarter than the newer ones but they'll be over taken by a newer one in a high speed roll on start.

Granted there's ways to change some of that but I'm talking stock for stock. Oh and the 04 got a tire pressure monitor the 03 did not have one.

Ok that's my 2 cents.

well to be honest i am not going to use it for racing, ill keep the mustang for that. I found a 2004 G35 with all the options (nevi.,bose sound, premium wheels, sunroof, and a manual transmission) its black on black with 12k miles. He wants 27k for it, what do you guys think....i thought it is a little too high.

You could knock it down $1000 if there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. If there are some issues you could knock it down by $2000.

Not so high of an asking price when you compare it to my deal lol. I paid $29K plus tax, title, license for my 03 in June of 06 with double that mileage sitting at 24K

12k is very low miles! I would still do a carfax on it.I would not pay more than full retail KBB. I would try to at least get him down to private party! If the car is in super shape, I might split the difference. My favorite color is black, so I would pay a little more for that.

btw, $26,500 is kbb private party excellent condition for my area for that car. So, $27K is not as high as I initially thought.

I'm considering the same thing. Get a used coupe or buy a G37. If you want a fully loaded G then 27k is far better than 42k for a fully loaded G37s. If a base-level will do, then you are paying 27k for a 3+yo car (soon to be considered 4 years old) when you can get a base G37s for 35k and 3.9% financing until Jan 2nd....

27K is WAY to high... G35 actual selling rates are much lower then KBB value..

For example a few months ago I tried to sell my 2003 Black, Wheat 6MT Brembo, Bose. with 60k miles, New Wheels, 2007 Headlights and a brand new 2007 6spd transmission.

For 20k I could not sell it so I lowered it to 19k.. I could not sell it, so I decided to keep it.

I have seen coupes on ebay going for 15K with 50k miles! Hello that extra 38k miles is not worth $10k ++ since you can likely get over 200k miles on a G35 before you have to think about a new engine and even then a brand new G37 (I'm talking a few years from now) would be less then $10K...

IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

I bought my 2003 last year for 24k out the door with 40k miles. (now it's at 75K)

if my car (see pics) is not worth 19k then how can the one you're looking at be worth 27K >> ???

It seems to be here most of the people either like the new style(G37) or not. Some people would take the 1st generation over the 2nd. I love the look of the first generation coupe but the second generation coupe looks wicked inside and you've got the 330 ponies. Once they'll come out with a turbo for the G37 will be a beast. If they pair it with an AWD system hopefully soon then it would be even better.

It is really up to your taste which one you like. Also if you buy a new car you've got warranty, roadside assistance etc.

I feel the prices on the G35's are somewhat lower now than what they were before the G37 came out.

Buy new vs. used is an interesting subject for sure. Usually buying lightly used will give you the best deal as you are not being immediately depreciated. Since the G is one of the best cars at holding resale value it kinda changes things a bit. If you are financing, then the percentage rates for new cars are lower than a used car loan. In the case of the current G37 that would be 3.9% vs. prime (7.25 now?) then you are looking at the final pricing (new/used 5-year) being even closer. Depends on rates and credit of course.

I was doing my comarison based on vehicle cost and not performance nor aesthetics. Aesthetic value is important and I am assuming that "both vehicles are pleasing" to the purchaser

I think the Fordness in this forum is starting to rub onto zozo.

The reason G35s are selling below KBB is because the G37 came out. Also 03-04s will sell even lower as they were the guinea pigs for the Gs (majority of issues were resolved by 05).

A person buying a used car will not take into consideration the complete value of the mods done to a car (wheels, aftermarket stereos, etc etc) in determining the price they will pay. If you sold a used car with a $1000 stereo system put in last year, you should only expect about $250-$400 extra for it when selling the car.

Kenrik both of those were autos I think he's looking for an MT being as the one he mentioned had it. They're slightly more rare being as most people now days prefer the lazy I don't have to shift in traffic autos to a manual. I think due to that fact they'll probably be slightly more. Just a guess and 12K miles you can't beat that! Mileage takes a crapload out of the value of a car it's more wear and tear on the vehicle. I don't think you had only 12K on yours when you tried to sell for $20K did you ? All I'm saying is mileage adds alot to a vehicles value not so much the add ons unless they are factory options and the entire package is more as a standard.

I completely agree with you he could find a cheaper one and more than liekly not have a major issue, but I highly doubt he'll find another that price with those miles, plus for me if I have the money I'd pay for the less miles just the same as I'd buy new if I could, for the sole reason I don't trust other drivers driving it properly (ie: grinding the clutch or transmission half gone by the time I buy it, or continually hitting redline before shifting). All I'm saying is mileage and condition are the 2 most important things that raise and lower your vehicle cost. If you have one but not the other the extras don't make up for it but if you have both plus options your set.

Just my personal opinion.

Hey I own a Ford I am just not proud of it. not like the guy with the name starting SVT and finish as Cobra.

I know he is drinking too right now.

I keep telling my wife to get something else. She is listening she told me she will consider other cars next time. Now I have to wait maybe a year or 2.

Can't really say anything the amount I paid for the car is next to nothing. Couple of little trouble under warranty.

2009 the alfa romeo will come in North America. They have couple of nice pocket rockets what my wifey already likes. Lets hope she won't loose her interest till that.
