I've never welded anything before but with my current LT1 240SS project i'm gonna need to learn. Any suggestions on a welder thats easy to learn with. I've heard of self feed ones. Do those send the wire through automatically. The closest thing I've done to welding is soldering (did I spell that right) Stereo equipment wires and maybe some radio shack kit boards.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I would think an automated self fed wire wouldn't be too precise...

Your best bet is to go to your local hardware shop, that carries welding equipment. I'm sure someone who works there has some knowledge of it, unless someone here does.

As far as learning how to weld, it's a lot more involved compared to soldering. I can tell you this, just from watching what's involved. Safety and patience is key. Once you become more experienced, you can pretty much do anything.
