I am trying to figure out the best way to remove car decals off my windows and my paint, without messing anything up. What do you guys think?

Dental floss after it's been sitting in the sun for a while should work, just scrape it off with the floss. Goo Gone or isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any residue then polish the area a bit.

I dunno, I wash my car like twice a year. I found a bunch of 64oz. jugs of Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax on clearance at Tractor Supply Co. for $4/jug and cleaned them out. I ended up giving most of the soap to my buddy, I have two jugs left... gotta start washing my car monthly to use them up. :lolling:

I'd suggest avoiding Armor All stuff (except the glass cleaner which is fine and cheap at WalMart), but other than that I really don't have much preference or knowledge about detailing.

Use a heat gun to remove the stickers and then some meguiars clay bar or polish or Finger nail polish remover.. On the glass you can a razor blade and windex..Just don't push the blade in the glass or else you will scratch the glass. Stick with windex to clean glass it works wonderful just use two micro-fiber towels one to do the first clean and the 2nd to polish the glass..

I would not use nail polish remover on paint. It's mostly acetone, a fairly powerful solvent.

Vegetable oil is a good substitute for GooGone.

Heat, but not in excess is good.

Pull very slowly.

Best: no decals in the first place.

I'm a detailer at a Nissan dealership.
Heatgun (Usually you can get away with using fingernails to pick off decals.), but you can get away with using a plastic razor (on paint.)
Windows, same thing. But you can use a metal razor.

Windows: razor blade and goo gone.

Paint: go find whoever put decals on your paint and slap them with full force

^ :)

Good suggestions!

I usually try to assess the TYPE of decal first (on paint). Believe it or not, a pic would help.

Glass is easy - a razor blade, followed by brake cleaner, GooGone, or any other solvent - followed by a good glass cleaner. I like Invisible Glass or SprayWay for cleaning glass, and newspaper is WAY better than microfiber towels, paper towels, or anything else.

If you don't feel good using nail polish remover use pre-clean you can soak the paint with it and it will not hurt it. Or you can buy a pin striping removal tool. It goes on a high speed drill and it super easy to use.. You can find pre-clean at Oreilly's.
